This year, Valentine’s Day becomes Vengeance Day as NXT takes over! Tune in as Finn Bálor defends the NXT Title against Pete Dunne, NXT Women’s Chamion Io Shirai clashes with Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez in a Triple Threat Match and North American Champion Johnny Gargano puts his title on the line against Kushida. Plus, don’t miss the finals of the Men’s and Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classics! NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day comes your way this Sunday at 7 E/4 P

* NXT Champion Finn Bálor vs. Pete Dunne
* NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai vs. Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Martinez (Triple Threat Match)
* NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano vs. Kushida
* Ember Moon & Shotzi Blackheart vs. Raquel González & Dakota Kai (Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals)
* MSK vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals)
* More Cards.

NXT Champion Finn Bálor vs. Pete Dunne

It’s time to go it alone for Pete Dunne.
After weeks of brawls involving Dunne and his cohorts Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan, The Bruiserweight will now go one-on-one with NXT Champion Finn Bálor at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day.
The ongoing attacks directed at Bálor forced The Prince to turn to an unlikely alliance with Undisputed ERA. Now Bálor and Dunne will now look to settle their differences in the ring in what promises to be a punishing encounter. Making matters more interesting, Royal Rumble winner Edge has promised to be keeping a close eye on the showdown.
Who will come out on top when the two hard-hitting Superstars meet in the squared circle?
Don’t miss NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day on Sunday, Feb. 14, streaming at 7 ET/4 PT

NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai vs. Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Martinez (Triple Threat Match)

Io Shirai has fearlessly faced all comers since capturing the NXT Women’s Title, but she’ll have to survive two dangerous rivals to remain champion.
The Genius of the Sky will defend against Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez in a Triple Threat Match at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day on Sunday, Feb. 14. The news was initially revealed in a recent ComicBook.com interview with Storm.
Since arriving on the black-and-gold brand at NXT TakeOver 31, Storm has made her singular goal clear: capturing the championship. And as a former NXT UK Women’s Champion, Storm is familiar with what it takes to win gold. But this time, she’s approaching her pursuit differently, displaying a newfound ruthlessness since betraying Ember Moon and aligning with Candice LeRae for WarGames.
Storm confidently declared last month she would be the next NXT Women’s Champion, and Shirai didn’t take kindly to that bold proclamation. The Genius of the Sky duked it out with Storm, bidding her adieu with a moonsault.
Storm hasn’t been the only one eyeing Shirai’s position atop the mountain. Martinez recently returned to NXT, decimating Shirai in the process and announcing her intentions of becoming NXT Women’s Champion.
Shirai cost both the chance to win the first-ever Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, interfering in their first-round match to gain retribution for Martinez’s attack.
But Storm and Mercedes’s temporary alliance disintegrated a week later, with both nearly coming to blows in a brouhaha with Shirai.
The Genius of the Sky has put together one of the most impressive title reigns in NXT history. But will it come to an end at TakeOver?
Find out on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 7 ET/4

NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano vs. Kushida

Johnny Gargano is sick of hearing about Kushida but at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day he won’t be able to escape him.

After Gargano first heard about the NXT North American Title Match, the two competitors commenced a wild brawl outside Mr. Regal’s office. Kushida is ready for his time to shine as a champion on the black-and-gold brand and has taken on The Way in his pursuit of the gold. Gargano & Austin Theory outlasted Kushida & Leon Ruff in the Dusty Cup Quarterfinals, but the challenger did pin the champion in a Mixed Match Challenge Match earlier this year.
Will Kushida usher in a new curse for Johnny Wrestling? Or will vengeance define The Way in the NXT North American Title showdown?

Ember Moon & Shotzi Blackheart vs. Raquel González & Dakota Kai (Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals)

One team make history as the winners of the first-ever Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and they’ll also earn a golden opportunity.
Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon are set to clash with Raquel González & Dakota Kai in the finals at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day with a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship opportunity on the line.
Since joining forces a year ago, González & Kai have left plenty of wreckage in their wake, and they look more determined than ever with the Dusty Cup in their sights.
While Blackheart & Moon may be less experienced as a unit, they’ve proven to be as dynamic a duo as the NXT Universe has seen in recent memory. Neither woman has come across a chance in the squared circle they won’t take.
Which team will be the first to have their names etched on the Women’s Dusty Cup?

MSK vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals)

MSK are one win away from capping possibly the most amazing first month in NXT history. But standing in their way are a couple of determined Grizzled Young Veterans.
Nash Carter & Wes Lee will face Zack Gibson & James Drake in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, with the winners receiving an NXT Tag Team Title opportunity.
Carter & Lee have rolled through the tournament thus far with eye-popping athleticism and innovation. And though they may be new to the black-and-gold brand, they’ve demonstrated the seasoning built over years of competition on the independent scene.
Meanwhile, The Grizzled Young Veterans have been on a mission from the start after coming up short in last year’s finals. Gibson & Drake have vowed to achieve what they couldn’t before, but can they cool off the red-hot MSK?
In either event, NXT Tag Team Champions Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch await the victors. Who will they face?

With the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view coming up on February 21, this week's show was all about building up the event and the feuds that will make up the card.

Roman Reigns promised us a big announcement regarding the universal title this week, but after Kevin Owens surprised him with a Stunner last week, The Tribal Chief had to keep his eyes peeled.

This week also marked the return of Seth Rollins to the blue brand for the first time since Survivor Series after he appeared during the men's Royal Rumble match.

What did Reigns have to say about the Universal Championship? What does The Messiah have planned now that he is back? Did Edge or Bianca Belair choose their WrestleMania opponent?

Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's episode of SmackDown.

Updates will begin after the first segment/match. Make sure to refresh this page for live results.

Opening Segment

1 OF 7

Reigns, Paul Heyman and Jey Uso came out at the top of the show. Adam Pearce was waiting in the ring with a binder. Reigns told Pearce he had no authority over the champ and he is just there to wait on him.

The Tribal Chief said he would put Edge into retirement again if they end up fighting at WrestleMania. He promised to keep the title for as long as he wanted before asking about Elimination Chamber.

Pearce told him he had a contract that said Reigns would defend the Universal Championship inside the Elimination Chamber. Heyman took over and told Pearce Reigns would only defend the title at the PPV but he wouldn't do it inside the chamber.

Pearce said he would think about it but in the meantime, Uso and Owens would be in qualifying matches for a spot in the chamber. Reigns got in Pearce's face but ended up leaving without doing anything violent.

    Grade: B-

    Analysis

This was a solid segment but it didn't reveal anything we didn't already know. We knew there would be qualifying matches and we knew Reigns would defend the title in some way at the PPV.

The Tribal Chief is great in this role but this segment bordered on repetitive. We've seen him assert his authority with Pearce before, so this did not tread any new ground.

The twist of Uso possibly earning a spot inside the chamber was the most interesting thing to come out of this. Heyman, Reigns and Pearce were all good but this segment was almost unnecessary.

King Corbin and Sami Zayn vs. Rey and Dominik Mysterio

2 OF 7

Sonya Deville turned a tag team match with Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin taking on Rey and Dominik Mysterio into a chamber qualifier for both members of the winning team.

Zayn gave a promo before the match that ended with him getting taken down by father and son. The ref called for the bell and The King started fighting Rey. Zayn tripped Rey, so Dom hit him with a suicide dive that almost ended with the young Superstar crashing into the announce table.

We returned from a break to see Rey trying to fight back against Corbin. Dom and Zayn tagged in and the younger Mysterio hit a nice tornado DDT for a near-fall.

Corbin took the 619 from both opponents but Zayn ended up hitting Dom with a Helluva Kick for the pin and the win.

    Grade: B-

    Analysis

Seeing a father and son team up in a WWE ring is always fun but when it comes to this feud, WWE needs to stick a fork in it because it should have been done by now.

Corbin has fought both Mysterios in singles and tag matches with no meaningful storyline behind them so many times that it is almost too obvious that nobody has any idea what to do with the Mysterios now.

Zayn's pre-match promo was as good as you would expect. He is amazing at making a nothing match seem like a main event because he is so passionate in his delivery.

As far as the fight is concerned, all four guys did a decent job. Zayn and Corbin winning was the right call, too. Dominik isn't ready for a match like the chamber.

Big E vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (IC Title)

3 OF 7

Big E was in the ring to issue an open challenge for the IC title when Apollo Crews showed up. The champ told him he didn't get another shot after failing so many times, so Shinsuke Nakamura got the shot instead.

Crews stayed at ringside to watch as Big E took control after the break. He hit Nakamura with a few forearms and a splash on the apron. Crews got on the apron for a distraction and Nakamura took advantage with a kick to the head.

The Rockstar hit a flying knee from the middle rope for a two-count. Big E planted him with an urinagi for another near-fall. As Big E prepared to hit his finisher, Crews delivered a dropkick to cause a disqualification.

    Grade: C+

    Analysis

This was a short match, so neither Superstar involved had enough time to make it anything more than an average encounter. What mattered was what came after.

Crews has been teasing a heel turn for weeks but it finally happened on Friday when he hit Big E with that dropkick. Now, Crews needs to prove he can be a convincing bad guy.

Big E and Crews have great chemistry but they have already had five title matches in 2021. If this feud continues, it needs to end soon.

Seth Rollins Is Back

4 OF 7

The entire SmackDown roster was at ringside for Rollins' return promo. He talked about how becoming a father has changed him in ways he didn't expect.

He said he now realizes he is the great leader SmackDown needs to make it great. That is when the entire roster started to walk away. The lights came on and he realized the only person who stayed was Cesaro, but even he walked away eventually.

Rollins clipped Cesaro's knee as he walked up the ramp and started beating him down. Daniel Bryan and some officials came out to make the save.

    Grade: C

    Analysis

Rollins said he had been changed by the birth of his baby but then proceeded to spew the same nonsense about being a savior. Nothing has actually changed.

This would have been a perfect opportunity for him to ditch the Messiah stuff but it looked more like he was doubling down. We will see where this goes but for now, it looks like Rollins is the same man he was last year.

The promo he gave was fine but it won't be among his most memorable. The roster walking out on him didn't have the impact it should have but that is because it made no sense for everybody to be out there in the first place.

Bayley vs. Liv Morgan

5 OF 7

Liv Morgan came out of the gate with a dropkick as soon as the ref called for the bell. Bayley hit a back elbow before Morgan sent her into the middle rope and hit a dropkick to the back of her head.

The Role Model rolled out of the ring and when Morgan tried to dive onto her, Bayley sidestepped and sent her into the barricade.

Morgan recovered and hit a facebuster for a two-count. Bayley knocked her off of the middle rope and hit a shoulderbreaker that caused Morgan to scream in pain. Morgan hit an enziguiri out of nowhere.

Billie Kay came down to talk to Ruby Riott at ringside and the distraction led to Bayley hitting Morgan with her finisher for the win.

    Grade: C+

    Analysis

Morgan and Bayley both looked good in this bout but the finish was too much like everything else we have seen involving Kay and The Riott Squad.

Kay is a funny personality but WWE is treading water with her character. She either needs to join The Riott Squad or they need to make it clear they don't want her.

The Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy

6 OF 7

Otis and Chad Gable battled Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins in the next match. Dawkins and Gable kicked things off with an exchange of waistlocks on the mat.

Ford applauded their technical exchange and tagged in so he could have a go at Gable. The Street Profits took control momentarily but Gable was able to hit a belly-to-belly suplex so he could tag in Otis.

The Dozer went on a rampage and took out both men. He hit the Caterpillar on Dawkins. Gable tagged in for a double-team finisher but Ford took out Otis first.

Dawkins planted Gable with a spinebuster to set Ford up for a huge splash to pick up the win.

    Grade: B

    Analysis

The team of Otis and Gable seemed random at first but they have meshed into a duo that makes sense. Both men have found success in amateur wrestling and are using it as part of their characters.

As always, Ford and Dawkins worked as one. They are one of the best teams working today and never miss an opportunity to show off.

It wasn't specifically stated that this was for a title shot but it wouldn't be surprising if the Profits used the win as leverage when they ask Pearce.

The Dirty Dogs vs. Cesaro and Daniel Bryan

7 OF 7

Despite being attacked by Rollins, Cesaro was able to compete in the main event alongside Bryan. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode looked confident as they made their entrance. This was another Chamber qualifier.

Bryan took control of Ziggler early but when Cesaro tagged in, The Showoff went after his injured knee. As soon as he could, Cesaro tagged out to recover.

Roode was able to avoid a suicide dive from Bryan and he hit Cesaro by mistake. Corbin and Zayn came out to watch as the show went to a break. Reigns and Heyman were shown watching from backstage when we returned.

Ziggler and Roode controlled The Yes Man for a long time. The Swiss Superman finally got the hot tag and went wild on his opponents. Roode attacked his knee when he was about to swing Ziggler around by his feet.

Cesaro hit Ziggler with a torture rack backbreaker before locking in the Sharpshooter for the submission victory. Uso attacked them with a chair after the match. Corbin and Zayn joined in right away but Zayn eventually took out Corbin, too. KO ran down to hit Stunners on everyone like he is 1998 Stone Cold Steve Austin. The show ended with KO saying he was coming for Reigns.

    Grade: B+

    Analysis

The least shocking thing about Friday's show was that this ended up being the best match of the night. Ziggler, Roode, Cesaro and Bryan are some of the most reliable performers in the world, so they had no problem working together.

So far, Zayn, Corbin, Bryan and Cesaro have qualified for the Chamber. Owens and Uso will likely get their chances to qualify next week.

This was a decent episode of SmackDown but it was a notch below some of the recent episodes in terms of moving storylines forward. A lot of what we saw felt repetitive.

WWE NXT Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from February 10

With NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day just days away, the February 10 edition of WWE NXT set the stage for the first major event of 2021 for the black-and-gold brand.

Three semifinal matches were on tap for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The women's final semifinal was a battle of rivals where Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon looked to cost The Way a major opportunity by defeating Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell.

Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa have had an unlikely ride in the men's Dusty Rhodes Classic, but they needed to fight one of the best tag teams in the world, The Grizzled Young Veterans.

Austin Theory announced that due to injuries suffered at Kushida's hands, the NXT North American champion would not compete at TakeOver. He wanted to get revenge in a battle with the Japanese Superstar.

Pete Dunne and Finn Balor were set to face off in the middle of the ring before their huge NXT Championship match. Karrion Kross and Scarlett had something to say on the show, likely connected to the recent warning made to Santos Escobar.

Cameron Grimes returned to the NXT ring as well as Xia Li, who has been looking to make a lasting impression on behalf of Tian Sha.

This episode was huge for the black-and-gold brand, setting the stage for NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day.

Men's Dusty Classic: MSK vs. Legado Del Fantasma

1 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

Legado del Fantasma punished MSK early in this match, sending them painfully to the floor outside. Nash Carter found himself isolated in the heel corner but managed to get the tag to Wes Lee. Lee pushed Carter into Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza mid-rotation to send the match into chaos.

Wilde hit a reverse hurricanrana into Mendoza's spinning brainbuster for a nearfall. MSK refused to stay down no matter what, and the two worked together to hit an elevated running blockbuster for the win.

Scarlett entered William Regal's office and made clear he would need to sanction Karrion Kross vs. Santos Escobar next week. The NXT general manager was glad to agree. The NXT cruiserweight champion told Wilde and Mendoza to make up for their loss by finding Kross. Kross laid them out.

    Result

MSK def. Legado del Fantasma by pinfall to advanace to the finals of the men's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

    Grade

    B+

    Analysis

MSK continue to find their groove in NXT. While Lee and Carter were talented before they came to WWE, it can often take time to adjust to a new wrestling style. The team feels unique but also already familiar working with some of the best NXT has to offer.

This was a great match between two motivated teams with much to prove. The action was non-stop with plenty of great spots throughout. Some things MSK did in this match are completely unique to WWE. Mendoza and Wilde did not look out of their depth keeping up.

These teams should both be in the tag team title picture after this tournament. Especially with so many teams reaching new heights, it is worth considering another multi-team title ladder match soon.

Xia Li (w/ Boa and Tian Sha) vs. Cora Jade

2 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

NXT showed a video packages to put over the intense personal hatred between Io Shirai, Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez.

Xia Li was distracted to start by the arrival of Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter, but it did not last long. The dangerous Chinese Superstar dominated Jade and knocked her out cold with a spin kick.

Carter got in the face of Tian Sha until Li knocked Carter off the ramp. As Ying choked out Boa for letting anyone get close to her, Li knocked out Catanzaro with a spin kick.

    Result

    Li def. Jade by pinfall.

    Grade

    C+

    Analysis

This was a fascinating segment. Li continues to pick up dominant wins, even against promising newcomers like Jade. The inclusion of Carter and Catanzaro can add an emotional element to this story, helping evolve the story of Sha. Hopefully, the squashes will stop soon and turn into complete matches.

It does feel like a waste to bring in a new potential star, only for her to immediately get knocked down with such fervor. However, this is typically NXT's modus operandi. New stars lose first then start to get build once WWE trusts them unless they are seen as absolute stars.

Women's Dusty Classic: Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon vs. The Way

3 OF 6

Johnny Gargano was wielded out with a cast on his left arm from multiple fractures at the hands of Kushida. William Regal arrived to announce The Rebel Heart was faking and had been cleared yesterday. Kushida attacked and revealed that Gargano could use his left arm.

Candice LeRae mentally adjusted quickly to take over the action quickly, planting Shotzi Blackheart on the mat repeatedly pulling at Blackheart's heart. The Poison Pixie lost her focus when her rival refused to stay down, allowing a hot tag to Ember Moon.

The War Goddess ran over Indi Hartwell, and Blackheart and Moon got a chance to team together, shifting the momentum. LeRae hit a tight-rope headscissors on Moon, launching her into Blackheart and the announce table.

The action shifted back and forth, but no one could quite put this away. It looked to be over after LeRae hit Blackheart with the Wicked Stepsister to set up a springboard elbow from Hartwell, but Moon broke it up.

LeRae took the Eclipse to set up a diving senton. Hartwell covered her mentor to take the shot for her, but she was the legal woman and was pinned for three.

The two final teams in the women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic faced off as William Regal announced the winner would get a shot at the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

    Result

Blackheart and Moon def. LeRae and Hartwell by pinfall to advance to the finals of the women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

    Grade

    B+

    Analysis

These women brought everything to this contest, and it showed. LeRae carried the physical side of this encounter and allowed Hartwell to get in some impressive moment in the biggest match of her career. Moon and Blackheart are good together and continue to improve as a unit.

With Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez winning last week, the only challengers to the heels that made sense were Moon and Blackheart. Despite this, the women nearly sold the idea that LeRae and Hartwell would pull it out.

The women's final is the absolute best match-up the first women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic could have produced. Either team could make a major impact against the WWE women's tag team champions.

Austin Theory vs. Kushida

4 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

Austin Theory and Kushida went after each other immediately at the bell. While Theory thought he could assert his power against his smaller opponent, the Japanese Superstar had too many counters for the young performers, whipping him around and wearing him out.

The technical attack of Kushida did serious damage to the left arm of the heel. Theory only found an opening when he tripped the Japanese Superstar off the top rope. However, Kushida powered through a powerbomb on the apron and locked Theory in an armbar.

Gargano kicked Kushida to cause a disqualification, and the two viciously attacked the No. 1 contender to the NXT North American Championship. Dexter Lumis pulled Theory below to save Kushida and scared off Gargano. Kushida locked Theory and Gargano in Hoverboard Locks, and Lumis put Theory to sleep.

    Result

    Kushida def. Theory by DQ.

    Grade

    B

    Analysis

Theory continues to improve with serious competition. Kushida made him look good by competing with him at a high level. Kushida looked like the better man, but Theory stayed in the fight and never looked weak. In fact, Gargano was the one that looked weak, tapping out to Kushida in fear.

This has been a fun rivalry, and Gargano has truly shined in his new role. He has fully committed to his ridiculous persona. No one in NXT is funnier than The Rebel Heart right now. It was obvious he was faking the arm injury, but that did not stop the segment getting more ridiculous with every passing minute.

He has made Kushida look unstoppable whether the challenge wins at TakeOver or not. It will be interesting to see what happens between them at TakeOver and what role Lumis will have.

Cameron Grimes Strikes It Rich

5 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

Another vignette aired for Imperium, clearly warning that all members of the dangerous European stable would soon arrive in NXT.

Cameron Grimes appeared in a Lamborghini, giving away money on his way to the ring. He revealed he was now seriously rich from investing in GameStop and Dogecoin, and he told William Regal he would now choose what he did in NXT with all his money.

    Grade

    D+

    Analysis

Grimes's reinvention was awkward to start. This story of The Technical Savage getting rich off GameStop stock and Dogecoin felt too much like WWE trying to play at being current. Grimes did not deliver the promo well, especially without a true crowd to hate him.

Hopefully, there is some plan at the end of all this. It is simply not clear yet. Grimes remains an awkward piece in NXT, not quite fitting on the wrestling-heavy brand.

Men's Dusty Classic: Thatcher & Tommaso Ciampa vs. Grizzled Young Veterans

6 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa talked about The Grizzled Young Veterans, calling them entitled including their arrogant name.

Zack Gibson taunted Thatcher and Ciampa until The Blackheart charged at The Grizzled Young Veterans. The angry faces tried to isolate Gibson, but James Drake helped get his partner out of the situation. GYV tripped Ciampa, forcing him to land hard on his neck.

This left Thatcher alone in the ring in what felt like a handicap match against an experience team that beat him down viciously. The Blackheart finally returned to the ring, clutching his neck but able to get the tag to save his partner.

Despite a brief flurry from Ciampa, Grizzled Young Veterans took back over and hit a devastating Doomsday Device. This set up GYV to hit the Ticket to Mayhem to pull off a huge victory.

    Result

Grizzled Young Veteran def. Ciampa and Thatcher by pinfall to advance to the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

    Grade

    A-

    Analysis

This was pure tag team excellence on display as the heels divided and conquered. It was an incredible performance from The Grizzled Young Veterans, and Ciampa was fantastic in his babyface comeback for the team.

Ciampa and Thatcher found a great dynamic together. The two should continue to work together going forward. Even if they lost, this is a team that can absolutely work a fantastic match with the current NXT tag team champions Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch.

With MSK making it to the finals, Grizzled Young Veterans had to rise to meet them. The two established tag teams needed to be in the finals over any others.
