After winning the men's Royal Rumble on Sunday and besting Randy Orton the following night on Raw, Edge continued his victory tour Wednesday by stopping by NXT.

This week's show was heavy on tag team action as both the men's and women's divisions continued to advance in the Dusty Cup tournaments.

Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro battled Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez for a spot in the finals, while Legado del Fantasma faced Lucha House Party in a quarterfinal match.

We also saw Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher team up to take on Adam Cole and Roderick Strong in another quarterfinal bout.

Let's take a look at everything that happened on Wednesday's episode of NXT.

Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez vs. Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro

1 OF 7

The show got right to the action with Kai and Gonzalez taking on Catanzaro and Carter for a spot in the finals of the Dusty Cup tournament.

Captain Kota tried to overpower Catanzaro, but the former American Ninja Warrior used her speed and agility to avoid her and make the tag to Carter for a double-team and a two-count.

All four women had a standoff that turned into a brawl. Once things settled down, Kai grounded Catanzaro in a headlock. Carter tagged in and managed to build some momentum as she took on both opponents.

Carter was sent flying into the announce table as the show went to commercial. When we returned, she was still taking a lot of punishment at the hands of Kai and Gonzalez. She made the hot tag, and Catanzaro unleashed a series of high-flying moves. She even dove off part of the set onto her opponents.

They kept the pace quick as both duos hit a series of double-team spots. Catanzaro almost won with an impressive corkscrew senton, but Gonzalez ended up getting the pin to advance her team in the tournament.

    Grade: B-

    Analysis

Gonzalez and Kai are destined for great things as individuals, but as a team, they still have plenty they can bring to the division.

The biggest complaint about this match comes down to one moment. Catanzaro hit Gonzalez with her finisher, and Kai was going to be late breaking it up, so Catanzaro appeared to roll away before she was hit.

Other than that, this was a fun, high-energy match that allowed all four women to stand out for different reasons. Even though they lost, Carter and Catanzaro looked slightly more cohesive as a unit.

Austin Theory vs. Leon Ruff

2 OF 7

Leon Ruff may have lost the North American Championship to Johnny Gargano, but he had to go through Gargano's protege this week, Austin Theory.

Ruff used his speed to counter Theory's initial salvo before the former bodybuilder took control and slowed down the pace to his liking.

Eventually, the high-flyer turned the tables and hit a flurry of offensive maneuvers. Gargano tried to interfere but was met with a kick to the face for his efforts.

Ruff ended up getting Gargano sent back to the locker room by pretending he was attacked. He got back into the ring and almost got the pin before Theory put his foot on the bottom rope. He hit Ruff with his ATL finisher for the win. After it was over, he hit the ATL again just for good measure.

Dexter Lumis showed up to prevent Theory from using the ring bell as a weapon at the end.

    Grade: B-

    Analysis

The feud between Ruff and Gargano has slowed down quite a bit, but you wouldn't know it from this match. Both guys looked like they were giving it everything they had.

Ruff might need to slow down occasionally so his moves look a little crisper, but he is still one of the smoothest high-flyers in NXT today. He just makes everything look so easy. Theory has a lot of skill, but he needs a better character. Being Gargano's buddy isn't helping him anymore.

Gargano's involvement was almost an afterthought in this match. He needs a new rival who can make the NA title picture interesting again.

Lucha House Party vs. Legado del Fantasma

3 OF 7

Gran Metalik and Raul Mendoza started for their teams with a quick exchange before Lince Dorado tagged in. He kept the pace up, but Legado del Fantasma took over when Joaquin Wilde got involved.

Metalik came back in with a springboard, but Mendoza sent him to the floor with a nice kick. We returned from a break to see Metalik counter a superplex with a sunset powerbomb in the corner.

Dorado and Wilde tagged in at the same time, and The Golden Lynx went on a rampage. He hit several aerial maneuvers before a jawbreaker stopped him in his tracks.

The King of the Ropes hit a splash off the shoulders of Dorado. Wilde set up both men for what ended up being a double springboard DDT for a two-count.

Mendoza and Wilde were able to hit a nice double-team finisher on Metalik to get the victory and advance to the semifinals of the Dusty Cup.

    Grade: B+

    Analysis

The spot when Wilde tried to hit both opponents with a DDT looked too planned and did not end up working, but that was the only major error made in a match full of risky spots.

When you put two teams in the ring together that focus on high-flying offense, you are going to get a fun show. That is why so many people love the lucha libre style of wrestling.

Wilde and Mendoza may have had their best showing to date in this match, and some of the credit for this performance goes to Dorado and Metalik for making them look so good.

It would be nice for Metalik and Dorado to get a push as a tag team, but putting over Legado del Fantasma was the right call.

Edge Steps into an NXT Ring for the 1st Time

4 OF 7

Pete Dunne gave a promo calling out Finn Balor, and the NXT champion didn't make him wait long for a response. After Balor accepted Dunne's challenge for TakeOver, Edge made his way to the ring.

The Rated-R Superstar looked excited to be in an NXT ring and said he has been a fan of the brand because he always sees passion in the Superstars' eyes. He said NXT helped him find his passion for wrestling again.

Edge teased using his guaranteed title shot at WrestleMania to challenge Balor before he complimented both guys for everything they have accomplished. He said he would be keeping his eyes on both men as he considers who he will challenge at 'Mania.

    Grade: B

    Analysis

Edge is so good at putting people over on the mic that Dunne and Balor didn't have to say a single word once he was in the ring.

It's unlikely Edge will challenge for the NXT title at WrestleMania, but the tease was a fun way to explain his presence at the show.

This was a good segment, but it did end up feeling slightly awkward toward the end. Balor and Dunne don't need the rub from Edge, but he also didn't hurt anything by showing up. It was one of those segments that was entertaining but also unnecessary.

Jessi Kamea vs. Toni Storm

5 OF 7

Toni Storm and Jessi Kamea locked up, and the former NXT UK women's champion immediately took control and scored a two-count.

Kamea was able to turn things around with a few well-placed kicks. Mercedes Martinez showed up and caused a disqualification by attacking Storm.

Io Shirai walked down and watched them fight while she sat on the top turnbuckle. She waited until the right time to hit both women with a moonsault at the same time.

    Grade: C

    Analysis

Kamea and Storm were working well together. It was a little sad to see this bout end so quickly in favor of highlighting Martinez and Storm, but it's not surprising.

This segment accomplished the goal of reminding us there is a feud for the women's title, but that was all it did. Storm, Martinez and Kamea didn't gain or lose anything.

However, there is never a wrong time to watch Shirai perform a moonsault.

Santos Escobar vs. Curt Stallion (Cruiserweight Championship)

6 OF 7

Curt Stallion got his chance at the NXT Cruiserweight Championship this week in a match with Santos Escobar. Wilde and Mendoza were there to support the champion after winning their own match earlier in the show.

Escobar got the upper hand right away and did not let up as he stomped Stallion into the mat. Scarlett was shown watching from an elevated platform as Escobar drilled Stallion with a dropkick for a two-count.

The champ glanced up at her for a moment, and Stallion took advantage with a roll-up for a near-fall. We returned from a break to see Escobar dominating his opponent with a single-leg crab that he turned into a crossface.

The challenger broke free and started building up a head of steam with a German suplex and a suicide dive. Escobar reversed a suplex and sent Stallion into the corner upside down for a two-count. Escobar was able to hit his finisher to retain his title.

Karrion Kross came out and beat up Mendoza and Wilde before he gave Escobar a warning and told him to run along.

    Grade: B

    Analysis

Stallion is a relatively new talent, so he can afford to take a beating like this without suffering too much. This match was all about making Escobar look like a strong champion, and it did just that.

Stallion looked good when he got in a little offense and sold well for his opponent. His job was to make Escobar look good, and he did his duty like a pro.

The post-match moment with Kross and Escobar was interesting, but it's hard to look at either of them as a babyface in this feud. The next couple of weeks will be important to making this storyline make sense.

Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa vs. Adam Cole and Roderick Strong

7 OF 7

The Undisputed Era looked to advance in the Dusty Cup in this week's main event, but Ciampa and Thatcher wanted to spoil their fun and win the trophy for themselves at the same time.

Cole and Ciampa started for their teams. The two former NXT champions locked up, and Ciampa backed Cole to the corner for a clean break. They kept things clean as they locked up again and traded takedowns. They came to a stalemate and decided to tag their partners so they could have a go.

The submission specialist and The Master of the Backbreaker showed off their technical ability with a great back-and-forth before Cole tagged in. Thatcher was able to bring Strong back to his corner so he could bring in Ciampa.

We returned from a commercial to see Thatcher stretching Strong in a submission. Ciampa tagged in and knocked his lights out with a forearm for a two-count.

They went past the end of the hour as they built up to the finish. Both teams came close to winning several times before Ciampa was able to spike Strong with a DDT to get the win.

    Grade: A

    Analysis

Cole, Strong, Ciampa and Thatcher represent some of the best workers in all of WWE, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that they stole the show with this bout.

This wasn't a very long match, but it felt like they packed a lot into the time they had and left us wanting more. That is one of the ways you know this was a great performance.

The combination of Ciampa and Thatcher works so well that WWE might want to consider keeping them together for a little while to elevate the tag team division.

Since neither team was heel, the few dozen fans in attendance were popping for all four men at different times. It helped make this a fun main event and one of the best matches we will see all week.

Sunday's Royal Rumble pay-per-view was the first stop on The Road to WrestleMania, and the journey continued with this week's Raw.

Monday's show dealt with the fallout from Sunday's event while also laying some of the groundwork for the buildup to Elimination Chamber.

After coming up short in the men's Royal Rumble, Bobby Lashley defended his United States Championship against Riddle after The Bro defeated the other three members of The Hurt Business last week.

Speaking of The Hurt Business, Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin put the Raw tag titles on the line against Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik.

Did Edge declare who he would challenge at WrestleMania? Did Bad Bunny show up for "Miz TV"? Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's Raw.

Opening Segment

1 OF 9

The show opened with Mike Rome welcoming Drew McIntyre to the ring to celebrate his victory over Goldberg at Sunday's Royal Rumble PPV. He spoke for about a minute before Edge made his way to the ring. McIntyre showed him a lot of respect, but Edge asked what was wrong with him.

The Rated-R Superstar said McIntyre should view him as a threat, not a friend. Sheamus came out and got in Edge's face, but McIntyre backed him off. He asked Edge if he was challenging him for the title. Edge said he is The Ultimate Opportunist and will assess the situation before making a decision.

Edge said no matter who he chooses, he is walking out of WrestleMania with a title. He left as Sheamus and McIntyre stayed in the ring. The Celtic Warrior waited until his friend turned his back and then uncorked a Brogue Kick to his face. McIntyre held his jaw as Sheamus walked away.

    Grade: B

    Analysis

Edge is one of the most reliable mic workers from the past 25 years, and it's not surprising that he was able to give a good performance without revealing anything.

Everybody saw Sheamus turning on McIntyre from a mile away, but we never quite knew when it would happen. It certainly didn't seem like this was when he would do it, so he gets points for the surprise.

McIntyre was his usual self. He has good chemistry with just about everybody, and if Edge chooses him for his WrestleMania title shot, it will be a great match.

With the Elimination Chamber coming up on February 21, Sheamus could be eyeing a spot in the match if McIntyre defends the WWE title at the event.

Bobby Lashley vs. Riddle (U.S. Title)

2 OF 9

The first match on Raw featured Lashley defending the United States Championship against Riddle. The Barefoot Bro earned this title shot after defeating MVP, Benjamin and Alexander in a Gauntlet match last week.

MVP was at Lashley's side, but the Raw tag team champions were preparing for their own title defense later in the show, so they were absent. Considering how they have acted in recent weeks, it was probably in Lashley's best interests to leave them backstage.

Riddle tried to rush Lashley as soon as the ref called for the bell, but The All Mighty did not go down easy. He easily overpowered Riddle and slammed him hard on the mat. He delivered a vertical suplex, but instead of falling with Riddle, he just dropped him.

The Bro took him out of the ring and hit a Floating Bro on the floor. Lashley recovered and put him in the Hurt Lock on the apron. The ref counted to five and disqualified Lashley for not releasing the hold. Lashley grabbed Riddle in the hold again and put him to sleep.

    Grade: C

    Analysis

This was...quick. Riddle came out of the gate hot and had one good spot, but for the most part, Lashley looked like an unstoppable monster.

This is a strange booking decision after WWE had Riddle defeat three men to earn this title shot, but the logic behind it likely has to do with WWE wanting their final encounter to happen at a PPV like Elimination Chamber or Fastlane.

It's hard to judge segments like this because there isn't much substance. Lashley was the only one who came away from this looking strong, so there's that.

Xavier Woods vs. Mustafa Ali

3 OF 9

Kofi Kingston returned to Raw this week to accompany Xavier Woods to the ring for his match against Mustafa Ali. They locked up and fought for control right away.

The ref had to get between them in the corner, and Woods was able to send Ali out of the ring with a clothesline. He followed him outside and threw him into the barricade. Mace and T-Bar distracted Woods so Ali could hit a neckbreaker.

The leader of Retribution talked a lot of trash to Kingston while he kept Woods grounded. Woods turned him inside out with a discus clothesline. Kingston took out Mace, and Woods was able to pin Ali to even the score at 2-2.

    Grade: B

    Analysis

Woods and Ali packed quite a bit into a short match without looking as if they were rushing from move to move. That is not an easy balance to achieve.

Ali is regarded as a great worker, but the past couple of weeks have been a reminder of how good Woods is between the ropes. He deserves his own singles push at some point.

This feud has been fine, but having Kingston back is going to help make it more interesting in the coming weeks.

'Miz TV' and Miz vs. Damian Priest

4 OF 9

The Miz and John Morrison came out for another episode of "Miz TV"/"The Dirt Sheet." Despite their altercation at the Royal Rumble, The Miz gave Bad Bunny a flattering introduction.

They showed a replay of what happened before The Miz offered an apology for destroying Bunny's DJ equipment. Bunny accepted the apology but refused to offer his own.

The Miz and Morrison sang him a song that was horrible and offered to train him as a WWE Superstar. Bunny said he wasn't interested, and they got angry. That is when Damian Priest made his Raw debut. He clocked The Miz as soon as he got to the ring. We returned from a break to see Priest taking on The Miz.

He hit a dive over the top rope to take out The A-Lister and JoMo for a two-count. The Miz sent him into the ring post. Bunny distracted The Miz long enough for Priest to recover and hit a series of strikes. He hit a falcon arrow for a near-fall.

Bunny prevented The Miz from using his briefcase as a weapon and hit Morrison with a microphone. Priest grabbed The Miz for the Reckoning to score his first win on Raw.

    Grade: C+

    Analysis

This was Priest's Raw debut. Instead of having him deliver a promo or give an interview, WWE had Bad Bunny talk to The Miz. It was a strange choice. The comedic moments also fell flat.

Other than that, this was fine. Priest and The Miz didn't put on a clinic, but The A-Lister did his job and made the newcomer look strong in his Raw debut.

The Miz and Morrison need to get back into the hunt for the tag titles. These random feuds are doing nothing for them.

The Hurt Business vs. Lucha House Party (Raw Tag Titles)

5 OF 9

Benjamin and Dorado started for their teams. The Gold Standard took control right away and threw Dorado across the ring. The luchador made the tag to Metalik for a unique double-team spot.

Alexander tagged in and hit a clothesline for a quick two-count. Metalik and Dorado sent both men out of the ring as the show went to a break. The Hurt Business was back in control when we returned.

Alexander hit a nice snap suplex for a near-fall. He and Benjamin worked well together as they kept Dorado isolated on their side of the ring. Metalik got the hot tag and hit Alexander with a few high-flying moves.

Benjamin tagged himself in as Alexander was setting up his finisher. He hit Paydirt for the win to retain the tag titles. MVP looked happy, but Benjamin appeared to be upset.

    Grade: B-

    Analysis

This was an enjoyable match with four great athletes, but some of the moves Metalik tried to hit almost didn't work. There was something off about him, which is odd because he is usually such a crisp performer.

The tension continues to grow between Benjamin and Alexander. Eventually, they will end up losing the titles because of a mistake, and it will lead to one of them being booted from the stable.

This storyline has been building up slowly over several weeks. It might be a good idea to take the next step in this story soon. WWE can only drag these things out for so long.

Asuka and Charlotte vs. Lana and Naomi vs. Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose

6 OF 9

This three-way No. 1 Contenders' match for the women's tag titles started off with Naomi and Charlotte trading some takedowns and counters.

Asuka and Mandy Rose tagged in and continued to keep the quick pace. Within 90 seconds, all six women had been the legal participant at least once.

Charlotte scored a two-count on Dana Brooke when we returned from a commercial. Asuka took control of Rose but couldn't get the pin with a shining wizard.

Naomi got in some good offense against Charlotte, but Lana ate a kick to the face after she tagged in. This is when everybody started to get involved and Ric Flair came out with Lacey Evans to provide another distraction.

Charlotte tagged out and left Asuka to fend for herself, which led to Naomi hitting her finisher for the win.

    Grade: C

    Analysis

The repeated distractions by Ric and Evans are bad enough, but now Asuka is losing when Rose or Brooke could have taken the pin to give us the same result. None of this makes any sense.

If we are supposed to feel bad for Charlotte, should we care that she left her partner by herself? Will Asuka ever be booked as a dominant singles competitor again? Does Naomi deserve better than a tag team storyline with Lana? Why wasn't The Riott Squad in this bout?

The match itself had a few nice sequences, but Triple Threat tag matches are almost never good overall. The way it is structured always leads to a few awkward moments, and this match was no exception.

Carlito and Jeff Hardy vs. Elias and Jaxson Ryker

7 OF 9

After returning at Sunday's Royal Rumble, Carlito teamed up with Jeff Hardy to take on Elias and Jaxson Ryker. Elias and Carlito started off with a nice technical exchange.

After Hardy tagged in, Ryker distracted him so Elias could take over. The bearded buddies worked The Charismatic Enigma over for a little while as Carlito looked on from the corner.

The King of Cool came in hot after he got the tag. He hit a Backstabber before tagging Hardy for the Swanton Bomb to get the pin.

    Grade: C

    Analysis

This was short, but it was what it needed to be. Carlito got his first win on WWE TV in over a decade, and Hardy defeated his rivals.

Both teams worked well together, and they paced the match so everybody had a chance to get in enough offense to make an impression. It wasn't a 5-star clinic, but it wasn't bad by any means. It was right down the middle.

It will be interesting to see if Carlito makes more appearances or if this was a one-time thing after appearing at the Rumble.

Alexa Bliss vs. Nikki Cross

8 OF 9

Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss haven't been around each other much in 2021, but this week saw the former friends and tag team partners do battle.

Cross went right after Bliss with a clothesline but missed. She asked what Bliss wanted from her after everything they have been through before they locked up.

Cross brought her down in a headlock, but Bliss was able to escape. Cross continued to yell at Bliss about wanting to be left alone, but Bliss just smiled at her.

Bliss was about to use the Mandible Claw, but Cross countered and stomped her into the corner. Somehow, Bliss transformed in the corner into her old self. Cross didn't buy it and kept attacking.

Bliss transformed back and knocked Cross down with a shoulder tackle before hitting a modified Sister Abigail for the win.

    Grade: C+

    Analysis

WWE put this storyline on hold for months and just picked it back up like it was always happening in the background this week. It was kind of weird.

That said, Cross did an excellent job carrying the emotional weight of this bout, while Bliss was her usual jovial self whenever she was in control. It was a good juxtaposition of the former friends and how their roles have changed since they originally joined forces.

The transformations are one of those tricks WWE could never do during a live show, so it's great to see the company taking the opportunity to do it while it's still possible.

Cross looked good, but this match is not going to be for everybody. You will either dig the weird backstory or think it's the dumbest thing on the show. There will be almost no middle ground.

Edge vs. Randy Orton

9 OF 9

After both men delivered promos at different points during the show, Edge and Randy Orton met in the main event for what was billed as their final encounter. The Rated-R Superstar started strong and took The Viper down for a pair of two-counts.

Orton countered Edge's submission attempt and began to slow down the pace to his liking. Edge pulled out one of his old finishers and hit an Edgecution for a near-fall. Orton took him out of the ring and whipped him into the steel steps.

We came back from a commercial to see The Legend Killer still dominating his former friend. Edge turned the tables on the top turnbuckle and stopped a superplex so he could hit a flying clothesline. He knocked Orton off the apron into the barricade.

Edge was able to bounce back, but as he prepared to hit the RKO, Bliss showed up sitting on the top turnbuckle with blood coming out of her mouth. Edge used the opportunity to nail him with a Spear for the win.

    Grade: B

    Analysis

Edge and Orton's matches have tended to run long, but this one was just the right length to give them time to put on a good performance without overstaying their welcome.

With Bliss showing up, it looks like Bray Wyatt will be returning soon to take revenge on The Viper for burning him alive last year.

This was a good ending to a mediocre show. The major highlights were Edge's promos, Woods vs. Ali and seeing Carlito looking as good as he ever has in the ring.

It's the last show before WWE Royal Rumble, and you know what that means. Friday Night SmackDown promised to build the excitement to a fever pitch just two days before one of the biggest nights of the year. This January 29 edition of the blue brand was certain to be unpredictable.

Only one match was promised ahead of the night as Bianca Belair looked to avenge her loss to Bayley. After everything The Role Model has put her through, this was The EST's opportunity for welcomed revenge.

Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens did not want to wait until Sunday to start the trash talk. SmackDown promised a war of words where KO and The Head of the Table could speak their final piece before an epic Last Man Standing match.

This was far from all that SmackDown would give fans just days before the Rumble. However, the blue brand was keeping it all under wraps. Could Raw stars invade SmackDown to make a statement? Would new stars earn a slot in the men's or women's Rumble matches? Everyone wanted to build momentum.

The January 29 edition of SmackDown felt like a monumental occasion and a chance for WWE to truly bring the absolute best to the table before the night that will begin to define the Road to WrestleMania.

AJ Styles Interrupts Daniel Bryan's Impassioned Promise to Win the Men's Rumble

1 OF 6

Daniel Bryan opened the show to talk about what it meant to him to win the men's Royal Rumble. He wanted to change his life one more time by main eventing WrestleMania one last time. He was not certain of how many more WrestleMania moments he had left.

He put over Chad Gable and Otis with the Alpha Academy getting him in shape for a long difficult climb to the top. AJ Styles interrupted as part of the quarterly Brand-to-Brand Invitational, setting up e challenge by The Planet's Champion for later in the night.

Styles pushed Bryan to the mat, and Omos got in the way of The Planet's Champion seeking retribution. Bryan called out Styles for standing behind the big man too often.

    Grade

    B-

    Analysis

Bryan is one of the best in the world, but his promos each week are growing tiring. He continues to play hype man for the Royal Rumble, spending too much time explaining how the match works. It will be best for him to get past WWE Royal Rumble.

The quarterly Brand-to-Brand Invitational is a silly technicality that WWE likes to pull out at random times. However, bringing The Phenomenal One to SmackDown just before Royal Rumble was a smart way to hype the event.

Styles vs. Bryan is a guaranteed fantastic clash of top talent. Both men have been considered the best wrestler in the world, and each time they step into the ring, they steal the show.

Bianca Belair vs. Bayley

2 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

After a video package was rolled for last week's obstacle course, Bayley explained to Kayla Braxton in a pre-match interview why she was simply better than The EST and would win the women's Royal Rumble.

The Role Model took over the action early, beating down on The EST. Bayley made a mistake by taunting Belair with her braid, motivating The EST to get physical. She landed a series of punches followed by an impressive standing moonsault for a nearfall.

Bayley tried to take advantage of the injured left elbow of Belair from last week, stopping her from hitting a Glam Slam. However, The EST fought with all that she had, knocking Bayley loopy with a right hand followed by the KOD for the win.

Afterward, on the top of the ramp, Braxton asked Belair about how much this win meant to her, and The EST put over Bayley as The Role Model glared at her from inside the ring.

    Analysis

Bayley has been the perfect challenger to introduce Belair to the SmackDown audience. Each segment shows more and more why The EST is not just the future of WWE but good enough to challenge the absolute best already. This match was no different.

While Belair can just rely on her athletic prowess to shine, she has a complete game in the ring, switching her style to tell a complete story. She just needs time. She and Bayley got it in a really good opening contest. This was completely different from their first fight.

The main mistake WWE made her was the post-match interview. Belair can cut a promo, but she was exhausted after a long fight. She should not have had to put words together when her actions spoke for themselves.

King Corbin vs. Dominik Mysterio

3 OF 6

Dominik Mysterio attacked King Corbin from behind while The King was headed to the ring. This only seemed to anger Corbin, who emphatically took over once the match began. He physically beat down Dominik with right hands as Rey Mysterio watched on commentary.

Rey's son tried everything he could to stay in the action, reversing The King's dangerous attempts injure him. Both men went into the steel post, and Dominik managed to reverse an End of Days attempt into a tilt-a-whirl DDT. However, that could not get the win, and the second End of Days attempt connected to win.

Afterward, Corbin tried to attack Rey as well, but The Master of the 619 sent him into the steel post outside.

    Result

    Corbin def. Dominik by pinfall.

    Analysis

Corbin vs. the Mysterios has hardly been an interesting rivalry. After Rey and Dominik disappeared from television, the story halted, and their return has made Dominik look like a rookie again rather than the young prodigy he seemed to be against Seth Rollins.

Dominik has decent chemistry with The King, but each loss has cut off what little momentum Dominik already had. He is back to playing second fiddle to his father. The clear focus is to build up one more match between Corbin and Rey.

Ideally, this rivalry ends within the next month. However, with The Knights of the Lone Wolf off TV lately as well as Murphy, WWE will likely complicate things again soon with those stars returning.

Roman Reigns Gets Under Kevin Owens' Skin in Their Final Showdown

4 OF 6

After Kalisto chatted up Sasha Banks, The Boss ran into Reginald, who gave her the "perfect wine to pair with losing" the SmackDown Women's Championship. Banks left the wine bottle with the sommelier to return to Carmella.

WWE showed a video package for the whole history of Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns. Michael Cole led a final interview between The Head of the Table and KO. Owens explained that he would never stop getting back up on Sunday until he won.

Paul Heyman initially refused to let Reigns waste his words on KO, but The Head of the Tables heard Owens speak for too long. He blamed Owens' father for raising him the wrong way to believe he could beat a better man. He called him and his whole family fools.

With each painful word, Owens lost his cool more and more, calling him a fake mob boss. Reigns turned off the camera for his side of the interview as KO yelled at the screen with fire. Owens looked ready to find Reigns and start the fight early.

    Analysis

WWE hyped up KO and Reigns' interview as the biggest moment of the night, and it absolutely was. Reigns found a way under Owens' skin and exploited it. However, at the same time, KO clearly frustrated his rival by never losing his confidence.

The Head of the Table promotes himself as a family man while KO prides himself as the ultimate family man. This interview clearly defined the dynamic between these two that has made this story so special. Without being able to defeat Reigns, KO has just made the WWE universal champion better.

This match could be the best on the whole card. Even if it is not, these two men will tell a special story together as they have all along the way to get to WWE Royal Rumble.

Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles

5 OF 6

The Miz and John Morrison got into a fight with Big E backstage about who would make a bigger impact in the men's Royal Rumble match. Sami Zayn tried to recruit Shinsuke Nakamura, but The Artist completely dismissed him.

AJ Styles told Omos to stay in the back for this match, wanting to prove he can beat The Planet's Champion. Cesaro joined commentary to explain why he has more momentum than either man in the ring.

After an impressive series to start off the match, Bryan got the upper hand only to be interrupted by Sami Zayn. The distraction allowed The Phenomenal One to knock The Planet's Champion off the top rope to the floor.

The Master Strategist refused to be left off the show and be silenced, so he spoke to commentary with his camera crew. In the ring, Bryan struggled to get off the ring, trapped in the Calf Crusher until he made it to the bottom rope.

Bryan shifted his weight to plant Styles with a butterfly suplex that transitioned into the Yes Lock until The Phenomenal One made it to the ropes. Big E arrived and clotheslined The Master Strategist, starting a brawl between everyone.

Zayn attacked Bryan to cause a disqualification then the heels beat down the faces until Shinsuke Nakamura evened the odds. Cesaro and Nakamura almost came to blows, but Zayn got involved and dumped outside.

    Bryan def. Styles by disqualification.

    Analysis

While the cheap ending was expected and stopped this match from becoming truly special, Bryan vs. Styles was fantastic once again. The two had a great technical showcase in the midst of chaos at ringside, reminding everyone that they still both have plenty more great matches in store together.

The two got too much time to wrestle the rest of the hour, so something was always going to happen. With the Rumble Sunday, this was the time to build up a variety of challengers. Bryan and Styles may be more likely to win than most in the match, but WWE needs to build a variety of options.

The six-man tag team match was only a promise of more action and a story that feels more apprioriate as the Royal Rumble go-home show main event.

Daniel Bryan, Big E and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. AJ Styles, Sami Zayn and Cesaro

6 OF 6

Daniel Bryan was the first victim of the heels after Sami Zayn caught The Planet's Champion with a chop block. After an emphatic missile dropkick, Bryan finally got to rest his knee, giving an impressive hot tag to Big E that could not be stopped even after a European uppercut from Cesaro.

The Miz and John Morrison arrived to take out Shinsuke Nakamura at ringside then team up on Big E, forcing the referee to call for another disqualification. Otis arrived, seeing an opportunity to finally get revenge on The A-Lister and The Shaman of Sexy. He cleared both out of the ring.

The match was restarted as a five-on-four handicap match by Sonya Deville. Again, the heels isolated Bryan, who competed over 30 minutes in the various restarted matches. It looked like the heels had the match won after taking out the other faces, but Sheamus arrived to even the odds.

Everyone hit impressive offense in a chaotic scene that left Zayn fighting a fresh Celtic Warrior. Sheamus planted him with a Brogue Kick to win. Braun Strowman arrived and took out everyone, hitting a running powerslam on Cesaro to end the night.

    Result

Big E, Bryan and Nakamura def. Cesaro, Styles and Zayn by disqualification; Sheamus, Big E, Bryan, Nakamura and Otis def. Cesaro, Styles, Zayn, Miz and Morrison by pinfall.

    Analysis

The positive in the original six-man match was seeing more great action. Cesaro and Nakamura gave an early preview of the great match they can have together soon. Bryan and Zayn got back to basics with a fun sequence. Big E got to look like a monster with his hot tag.

It was just an awkward transition to an unnecessary bigger match because Miz and Morrison had to get involved. All the wrestling here was memorable, and everyone got a small chance to stand out. It just was far too much chaos to enjoy it.

Strowman ended the night as the big late addition to the men's Royal Rumble match, but everyone knew he would be in the contest without official word. While The Monster Among Men should be seen as a favorite, this moment may have built him up too strong to actually pull it out.
