On the Road to WrestleMania, anything can happen. WWE knows that, and the company hopes everyone else does as well. For that reason, the March 1 edition of Monday Night Raw did not promise much going in.

After an exciting WWE Elimination Chamber, The Miz walked out as WWE champion, shocking the world. However, it was time for him to pay the piper. He had enlisted Bobby Lashley's help at the event, and he was given just one week before he had to defend against The All Mighty.

Since losing to Drew McIntyre in controversial fashion, Lashley has looked unstoppable. He won the WWE United States Championship with ease and only lost it because Riddle pinned John Morrison, never defeating the actual champion.

The A-Lister may be a mastermind with many plans to keep his gold, but The All Mighty is a force beyond all planning. No one can beat Lashley on his best day, and this was his chance to finally win the WWE Championship.

Before he got that opportunity in the main event, McIntyre promised to return to WWE. Would he be able to focus on what was stolen from him, or would Sheamus make it clear that his former friend had another promise to keep first?

This edition of the red brand had every opportunity to blow the WWE Universe away. However, with little promised ahead of time, fans had to just hope WWE had a grander plan with just one month before WWE WrestleMania 37.

The Miz Asks for Drew McIntyre's Help; McIntyre vs. Sheamus

1 OF 8

    Credit: WWE.com

Drew McIntyre made his statement to the men who got in his way. He made clear he was ready to put Sheamus behind him immediately and then get back his WWE Championship from The Miz or Bobby Lashley after this show's title match was done.

The A-Lister arrived with John Morrison, decked out in fancy suits and sunglasses. Miz tried to convince McIntyre to help him defeat The All Mighty. MVP arrived to make a formal announcement that Lashley would have his title match at the top of the hour, giving The A-Lister less than one hour to prepare.

The Celtic Warrior arrived and got in the way of Miz begging McIntyre for help, starting the fight between him and McIntyre. This was hard-hitting even before the bell. Both men did not pull a single punch. Sheamus gladly elbowed McIntyre repeatedly in the jaw, targeting an old wound.

The damage grew more uncomfortable to watch as Sheamus looked to break the former WWE champion's jaw with knee drops. The two fought outside, and McIntyre threw The Celtic Warrior onto the announce table. McIntyre then knocked out Sheamus on the top rope with a headbutt to set up a superplex.

The Celtic Warrior went for the Cloverleaf, but McIntyre rolled through and planted Sheamus with the Future Shock DDT. McIntyre caught him with White Noise off the top rope for a near-fall. The Celtic Warrior planted him right back and went for the Brogue Kick only to run into a Claymore that won it.

    Result

    McIntyre def. Sheamus by pinfall.

    Grade

    A+

    Analysis

McIntyre continues to work on the highest level, yet he still may not be outwrestling Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior has been incredible these last few months. He can do no wrong in the ring, and it was clear that he wanted this more than anything.

He and one of his absolute best friends got to fight one-on-one with full hatred between them. The heat in this contest was palpable. The two brutalized each other, and the focus on the jaw worked, allowing Sheamus to look truly sadistic.

The only real disappointment was that the two fought with no hype on Raw rather than waiting for WWE Fastlane or even WrestleMania. The point of Sheamus turning should have been a major match rather than such a rushed clash.

Nia Jax (w/ Shayna Baszler) vs. Naomi (w/ Lana)

2 OF 8

Naomi was happily skipping to the ring, only to walk right into an angry Nia Jax. Once the two got to the ring, backed up by their tag team partners Lana and Shayna Baszler, it was clear that The Irresistible Force would not be denied.

Jax caught Naomi attempting to run around the ring, wearing her down with a bear hug. She followed up by planting the veteran with a Samoan drop and chokeslam for the win.

A video package was once more shown for Rhea Ripley, promising she would arrive on Raw soon.

    Result

Nia Jax def. Naomi by pinfall.

    Grade

    F

    Analysis

Naomi took time away from WWE with serious potential upon her return. She had the opportunity to truly take over a division in need of more top stars. When she returned to back up Lana, she at least had a chance to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

Now, she and Lana look as out of their depth against the champions as The Riott Squad did. The tag team division needs serious contenders. This made the faces look like jokes. Losing to Jax is not a problem. It is losing so quickly without much of a fight that ruins all of Naomi's momentum.

Naomi is better than this. WWE has put too much time into Lana's feud with Jax and Baszler to treat it like such a joke now. This is so lazy.

Raw Tag Team Champions Hurt Business vs. Braun Strowman and Adam Pearce

3 OF 8

Braun Strowman called out Shane McMahon and Adam Pearce for cheating him out of opportunities. Shane-O-Mac arrived to announce that The Monster Among Men would team up with Pearce, resolving their conflict together by competing for the Raw Tag Team Championships.

Strowman refused to take Pearce's help, throwing around Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin all on his own. However, The Monster Among Men missed Alexander and went shoulder-first into the steel post. Strowman recovered and planted Shelton with a running powerslam.

As Strowman went for the cover, Shane told him to tag in Pearce. This gave Shelton time to recover, and he caught Pearce with an inside cradle for three. Afterward, The Monster promised to destroy everything while Shane watched.

    Result

Alexander and Benjamin def. Strowman and Pearce by pinfall to retain the Raw Tag Team Championships.

    Grade

    D

    Analysis

This was not good. Strowman continues to be booked with a singular mindset in the tag team division. He makes every tag team look like a joke. The Hurt Business has been so well protected to this point that Alexander and Benjamin couldn't lose even though they were not working well together.

This made both look bad, and it showed why fans can rarely take the tag team division seriously. This was all about building the awkward and uninspiring feud of The Monster vs. "The Best in the World." Shane has had some surprisingly good matches with AJ Styles and The Miz, but Strowman is a step too far.

This match has no spark to it. It is hard to tell who is supposed to be the face in this rivalry.

Elias (w/ Jaxson Ryker) vs. Bad Bunny (w/ Damian Priest)

4 OF 8

Elias tried to set up a collaboration with Bad Bunny backstage, but the 24/7 champion was not interested. The Living Truth called out the Grammys as a shame for missing his hit album.

Damian Priest arrived to shut up Elias. The Archer of Infamy wrenched at the left arm of The Living Truth, making an impression on the musician. Elias refused to lose easily and managed to take over the action, gladly taking the help of Jaxson Ryker.

The Archer of Infamy was dazed for a moment but found his second wind, attacking Elias with a series of strikes and then connecting on the Broken Arrow. After The Living Truth kicked Priest into the ropes, he caught The Archer with a leaping knee for a near-fall.

Elias went for Drift Away, but Priest escaped before winning with Hit the Lights.

    Result

    Priest def. Elias by pinfall.

    Grade

    D

    Analysis

This match was an absolute slog. Priest and Elias are both individually talented. However, they have zero chemistry. This contest moved from armbar to headlock for a long stretch. Even when the momentum ramped up, nothing felt remotely tense.

It was so clear that Elias would not win. He has lost almost all of his momentum as a potential threat on Raw. Ryker's inclusion has made him less interesting rather than more.

Priest at least won, which was the result that was needed. He is still undefeated, and it feels like The Archer of Infamy is ready to go straight to the top after Bunny has gotten his one big match.

WWE Champion The Miz vs. Bobby Lashley

5 OF 8

Kayla Braxton asked Randy Orton about the odd situation from last week when he began spitting up blood. Alexa Bliss arrived, followed by another version of The Viper on the screen. Bliss promised Orton would pay for all that he has ever done.

The Miz got out of defending his title at 9 p.m. ET by saying he was having cramps. He could not get out of the match at 10 p.m. ET even after trying to implore Bobby Lashley to wait until WrestleMania for his monumental first WWE Championship.

Once the bell rang, The A-Lister ran out of the ring and up the stage, intentionally getting himself counted out. Lashley was irate, but MVP kept him calm, certain he could fix this.

    Result

Lashley def. Miz by count-out; Miz retains the WWE Championship.

    Grade

    C+

    Analysis

This story all makes sense. Miz is taking every single shortcut knowing that Lashley is too good for him to beat one-on-one. Lashley is so impatient that he and MVP are not figuring out answers to Miz's complications until after the tricks.

It's not the most exciting story to watch unfold. It feels so inevitable, yet any surprise twist would be a waste of The All Mighty. He is ready for this moment, and this has to be the time he wins. WWE cannot give this story all night and not deliver.

Charlotte vs. Shayna Baszler (w/ Nia Jax)

6 OF 8

Charlotte Flair talked about what she wanted at WrestleMania. She had put everything behind her with Ric Flair and Lacey Evans. She wanted to fight Asuka, though she had to wait until The Empress of Tomorrow was healthy following a brutal kick from Shayna Baszler.

The Queen of Spades arrived on cue with her tag team partner Nia Jax. The champions made clear they wanted Asuka instead and would go through The Queen to do it. The two attacked Charlotte before the bell, making sure she was vulnerable for Baszler.

The Queen of Spades nearly locked in the Kirifuda Clutch after interference from The Irresistible Force, but Charlotte recovered and planted Baszler with the Natural Selection to win.

    Result

    Charlotte def. Baszler by pinfall.

    Grade

    D+

    Analysis

Charlotte and Baszler are good together, but this was too short. The result also took away from the action in the ring. The idea of these two having a full match where The Queen of Spades could wear down Charlotte throughout is enticing but may never happen.

Somehow, despite all the work done to build up Jax and Baszler, Charlotte is still seen as a much higher priority. In the same night The Irresistible Force squashed Naomi, The Queen of Spades lost decisively and too quickly to Charlotte.

Retribution vs. Riddle and Lucha House Party; Mustafa Ali vs. Riddle

7 OF 8

After Mustafa Ali's angry words, Retribution worked hard early against the fast-paced offense of the talent on the other side of the ring. However, Slapjack walked into a Lince Dorado superkick and a Gran Metalik splash for Lucha House Party to take the victory.

Afterward, Ali demanded a match with the United States champion. The Original Bro agreed, and the match was on. The leader of Retribution was too emotional early and ran into a gut-wrench. However, Ali focused on the left arm of Riddle and nearly hyperextended it with a vicious assault.

The Original Bro fought back and hit a Final Flash knee, but Retribution surrounded the ring and helped Ali set up a top-rope headscissors slam to take the win.

    Result

Lucha House Party and Riddle def. Retribution by pinfall; Ali def. Riddle by pinfall.

    Grade

    C+

    Analysis

The story here was better than the action, which was badly rushed over two matches. From the surprise finish of the six-man tag early to the ugly finish of the single match that followed, it was clear no one was quite comfortable with the time they had.

However, this was a rousing success of storytelling. Ali was able to get Retribution to work together to benefit him, even when the group could not win on its own. He leads by example by taking advantage of the team more than he ever helps it.

Hopefully, this means that Retribution is not falling apart right away. There's still a chance for the group to at least get Ali his first-ever WWE title.

Lumberjack: WWE Champion The Miz vs. Bobby Lashley

8 OF 8

The Miz lost it backstage after Shane McMahon said The A-Lister would forfeit his title if he did not face Bobby Lashley in the main event. He questioned what kind of champion The All Mighty would truly be for WWE on The Road to WrestleMania.

After introductions, Shane-O-Mac arrived to make clear that this match would now be a lumberjack match. Miz tried to get himself disqualified as the bell rang with the WWE Championship, but Lashley caught him and was not affected.

He threw around Miz, including into the mix of lumberjacks, who all wanted to hurt The A-Lister. Finally, Miz was left alone with Lashley and caught in the Hurt Lock, forced to tap out. Afterward, The All Mighty locked him in his signature submission a second time to make his point clear.

    Result

Lashley def. Miz by submission to become the new WWE champion.

    Grade

    B+

    Analysis

This was a long journey to get to the end, but this genuinely worked as The All Mighty's emphatic victory. Going into the night, both men were heels, so WWE had to find a story to tell. By the end of the night, Lashley was the clear fan favorite, taking out the scumbag heel.

Miz was never going to last long as champion with his current run. He always does the work, and he allowed The All Mighty to become the WWE champion for the first time. It was a heroic moment while still creating a dangerous monster to be overcome down the line.

Lashley has been through so much to get to this moment. He has always been so close to that goal, and he is now one of WWE's top heels. He has made history in his own career that will last a lifetime.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 Results: Reviewing Top Highlights and Low Points

Sana Ejaz Khan

    Credit: WWE.com

The card for WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 was far from finished by the time Sunday came, but it's now in the rear-view, for better or worse.

Sometimes, when WWE has to change the show at the last minute, it leads to something even better than originally planned. Other times, one chaos leads to even more disaster.

With championships and implications for WrestleMania 37 in the mix for Drew McIntyre, Roman Reigns and more, this was an important event that needed to succeed or it would set a bad tone for what's to come.

Did WWE pull it off? Were there more positives or negatives that stood out?

Presented in order of appearance, here are the highlights and low points from Elimination Chamber 2021.

    WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 results

    • Fatal 4-Way Match: John Morrison defeated Elias, Mustafa Ali and Ricochet by pinfall in a Fatal 4-Way match to determine who would replace Keith Lee in the United States Championship match.
    • Daniel Bryan won the Universal Championship No. 1 Contender's Elimination Chamber match.
    • Roman Reigns defeated Daniel Bryan by submission to retain the Universal Championship.
    • Riddle defeated Bobby Lashley and John Morrison by pinfall to win the United States Championship.
    • Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler defeated Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair by pinfall to retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship.
    • Drew McIntyre won the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match to retain his title.
    • The Miz then cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and defeated Drew McIntyre by pinfall to win the WWE Championship.

Highlight: Fatal 4-Way Kickoff Match

2 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

In an ideal scenario, Keith Lee would have been in the United States Championship match and no replacement would have been necessary.

The next best plan would have been for WWE to establish his replacement on Monday Night Raw, rather than waiting until just prior to the event to pull The Limitless One from the match.

Thankfully, WWE's plan C was to put a Fatal 4-Way on the kickoff to determine who would get that title opportunity, which was a much better way to handle this than just arbitrarily naming a replacement as has happened in the past.

It never hurts to give athletes like Elias, Ricochet and Mustafa Ali more time to shine and for John Morrison to score another victory.

Highlight: Universal Championship Elimination Chamber and Title Match

3 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

There might be a slight sting that Cesaro wasn't able to pull off the win, but the overall two-part segment revolving around the Universal Championship was by and large fantastic all around.

Starting off with Cesaro and Daniel Bryan was the best setup possible. Both went through the gauntlet and wore themselves out, which was the entire purpose of this story.

All three babyfaces scored an elimination, too, to make sure no one looked too weak.

As expected, Bryan was too exhausted and beaten down to put up much of a fight against the fresh Roman Reigns, which was the plan. However, there was a great moment at the start when Bryan caught The Tribal Chief in a Yes Lock.

That brief moment of doubt that there could be a swerve was perfect, as was Reigns pummeling Bryan and choking him out.

The cherry on top was Edge's surprise spear, declaring he's chosen Reigns as his opponent for WrestleMania 37.

Highlight: United States Championship Triple Threat Match

4 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

It will be very interesting over the coming weeks leading up to WrestleMania to look back and dissect the set of circumstances that led to Riddle winning the United States Championship by pinning Morrison in this Triple Threat match.

Clearly, WWE wanted to keep Bobby Lashley strong, so he wasn't pinned to lose his title. But the creative direction didn't include keeping the belt on his shoulders.

Just by Riddle winning this in general, it's become a highlight due to the intrigue it sparks.

Was Lee actually injured or just taken out of this match to bypass being the one to take the fall? Is the game plan for Lee to fight Riddle at WrestleMania and that's why the title changed hands? Or is this just something to swerve audiences for the sake of getting people talking?

It's working, if that's the case, as this is far more interesting now with this outcome than if Lashley had just retained.

The match itself was generic, but solid. All three competitors did their jobs as Lashley dominated with his power, Morrison had some agile moments but played the sacrificial lamb after having wrestled earlier and Riddle capitalized to win his first title on the main roster.

Low Point: Women's Tag Team Championship Match

5 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

Reginald is fantastic when he's flipping around the ring and showing off his athleticism, but his presence in this build of Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair for WrestleMania is highly questionable.

It was obvious from the very start that The Boss and The EST of WWE will not only clash at the biggest show of the year, but that this tag team title opportunity was just a means to stall for time. They weren't going to win the belts.

Giving the win to Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler isn't the problem. The issue is that none of this concerns Carmella and her sommelier.

Carmella's lost multiple shots at the SmackDown Women's Championship and stringing it along that she might get yet another opportunity is a waste. If she fights Banks at Fastlane, no one in the WWE Universe will think she stands a chance, rendering it moot.

Highlight with Hesitation: WWE Championship Matches

6 OF 6

    Credit: WWE.com

Inside the bubble of just this event itself, without thinking about what preceded and what will follow, the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship and the subsequent Money in the Bank cash-in by The Miz are major highlights and the biggest talking points of this show.

Practically any time the title changes hands, especially with a surprise like that, it will get people talking and could be an exciting step forward in some interesting changes to the roster.

However, this may just have been a swerve to generate buzz with no actual decent plans to come.

This is The Road to WrestleMania and at times, it feels like the writing team is creatively bankrupt even more than it has been over the treacherous past few years, which is saying a lot. Could this just be a hail Mary for social media chatter that will be rendered useless by Fastlane with the title on someone else?

The future will determine how we look back on Elimination Chamber. This could just as easily be the start of something great as it can be a sign WWE never had any idea what to do for WrestleMania 37 and was just throwing random ideas around until something stuck.

WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from February 19

Sana Ejaz Khan

    Credit: WWE.com

The February 19 edition of Friday Night SmackDown was the final show before WWE Elimination Chamber 2021, and that made it one of the more important nights on the Road to WrestleMania 37.

In the main event, the six men who would fight inside the Elimination Chamber to earn a shot at Roman Reigns would battle. Kevin Owens teamed up with Daniel Bryan and Cesaro to fight Jey Uso, King Corbin and Sami Zayn.

Edge wanted to make a statement before Elimination Chamber, and he announced he would open SmackDown. With two Elimination Chamber matches determining the future champions of red and blue brands, The Rated-R Superstar had a major decision to make.

Bayley invited Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the second-ever edition of "Ding Dong, Hello!" The WWE women's tag team champions had many future challengers, including Lana and Naomi as well as Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez, but SmackDown's Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks also had a beef with the champions.

This show had work to do in building up WWE Elimination Chamber. Everyone was sure to have their eyes on this big night.

Roman Reigns Makes His Case to Edge

1 OF 7

    Credit: WWE.com

Edge talked about his future at WWE WrestleMania and the choice he still has to make. Roman Reigns interrupted to make clear that he was the main event and deserved to be the main event. As The Rated-R Superstar and The Head of the Table got close, Sami Zayn arrived.

The Master Strategist refused to be disrespected, only to take a superkick from Jey Uso. Reigns walked up to Edge and whispered in his ear before walking away.

Backstage, Edge caught up with Kevin Owens, showing his respect to KO for continuing to fight hard. He told Owens he was rooting for him. King Corbin tried to tell Edge to keep out of his kingdom, but The Rated-R Superstar was not impressed.

The Rated-R Superstar put over Cesaro after The Swiss Cyborg's interview talking about Seth Rollins. Daniel Bryan asked Edge to choose him if The Planet's Champion defeated Reigns on Sunday.

    Grade

    B

    Analysis

Edge continues to tease a decision without delivering. However, this worked because it was more about Reigns trying to convince The Rated-R Superstar to choose him. The two were truly intense facing off, selling the likely WrestleMania dynamic.

Zayn is entertaining every time out. However, it made little sense for him to get involved in the segment. He had a tag team match later in the night and would not have wanted to get injured. Playing his hand early served no purpose to his strategy for WWE Elimination Chamber.

Apollo Crews vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

2 OF 7

Big E joined commentary on his own couch, complaining about Apollo Crews demanding another shot. Crews ruined the WWE intercontinental champion's TV dinner by throwing Shinsuke Nakamura into the champ. This nearly set off Big E, but he managed to calm himself and continue his foot soak.

Crews thought he had The Artist's number, but Nakamura caught the young star in a small package to win. Afterward, Crews lost it, attacking The Artist. Big E got in the way, but that only convinced Crews to attack Big E, including dropping steel steps from the ring to the floor onto the champion.

The intercontinental champion had to be stretchered out of the ring due to the attack.

    Result

    Nakamura def. Crews by pinfall.

    Grade

    B

    Analysis

Crews vs. Nakamura was a fine match with limited story behind it. While The Artist still looked to be working at a higher level, he did not click with Crews at the same level as he has other recent opponents. However, this was ultimately about the aftermath.

Crews' brutal assault of Big E was special. It felt like a turning point where his character was finally realized. Big E set him off by telling him to "go back to catering", and it is clear that Crews is done playing in the background. He finally feels ready to dethrone Big E.

Seth Rollins Warns Cesaro That He Will Pay for Ruining His Return

3 OF 7

Seth Rollins arrived as Big E was being stretchered to the back. He sympathized with Big E's pain and betrayal. He wanted everyone to accept his vision, lodging a formal legal complaint against WWE for ruining his return.

He particularly warned Cesaro that he would feel the wrath of The Messiah every time he stepped into a ring.

    Grade

    B+

    Analysis

Rollins has absolutely nailed his role as the cocky cult leader since his evolution, and it is fascinating to watch his evolution. His rhetoric is reminiscent of televangelists and even the 45th president. It works really well now that he has no help to back him up. It sells his delusion.

It is great to see that WWE is fully embracing a rivalry between Rollins and Cesaro. The two can be great together, and this is an opportunity to keep The Swiss Cyborg a major force on SmackDown after likely losing in the Elimination Chamber.

The Riott Squad vs. Natalya and Tamina

4 OF 7

Tamina looked dominant throughout in this contest, but The Riott Squad managed to isolate Natalya, nearly taking the win. Billie Kay arrived to provide the distraction that set up Liv Morgan to walk into a spin-out side slam by Tamina to win.

Natalya and Tamina took out Kay after the match to make clear they were not looking for a third member.

    Result

Tamina and Natalya def. Riott Squad by pinfall.

    Grade

    D-

    Analysis

This was an ugly match from the outset. It was only a couple minutes long, but Tamina did not seem to be working at the same pace as Morgan. Natalya was clearly rushing with the limited time, and the Kay appearance was so frustratingly telegraphed.

Kay is entertaining. The Riott Squad can be a solid tag team for WWE. However, this story is not working. It is time to find someone else for Kay to work with. Natalya and Tamina don't exactly cut it.

Sasha Banks, Bianca Belair and Reginald vs. Bayley, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler

5 OF 7

Bayley introduced her guests Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. The WWE women's tag team champions immediately started trash talking Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair, which surprisingly sent Reginald to the ring. He spoke up for both The Boss and The EST as better than the tag team champions.

Banks arrived to remind Reginald she could speak for herself, and Belair took exception to Reginald and Banks' comments about her. Reggie convinced them to work together, setting up a surprise six-man tag team match.

After the heels isolated Banks to beat her down, Reginald had to tag in. Against The Irresistible Force, Reginald could not make a dent until The Boss and The EST dropkicked Reginald on top of Jax to take a surprise pinfall.

Carmella questioned Reginald, telling her sommelier to do the right thing. She yelled at him for giving her a bad glass of wine.

    Result

Reginald, Banks and Belair def. Jax, Baszler and Bayley by pinfall.

    Grade

    C+

    Analysis

This was an odd segment, especially because of the involvement of Reginald. In just a couple months, he has gone from help for Carmella to an odd infatuation with Banks. It made no sense for him to get involved without The Untouchable One inserting herself in the action.

WWE has avoided intergender matches almost entirely in WWE, yet Reginald is just thrown into random women's matches. This would make sense in other wrestling promotions, but WWE has seemingly set up a divide that it is breaking without explanation.

Bayley was the best part of all of this. She makes every inch of her talk show set work. She sold the insanity with her frustration.

Rey and Dominik Mysterio vs. Alpha Academy

6 OF 7

As Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode watched on commentary with solo cups, this looked to be a friendly competition between two developing teams until Otis snapped. He attacked Rey Mysterio until the referee called for the bell.

Chad Gable encouraged the aggression, setting up Otis to hit a diving splash on Rey with Dominik Mysterio already out of the way. Dominik had to help his father to the back, wheezing in pain.

    Result

Rey and Dominik def. Alpha Academy by disqualification.

    Grade

    Analysis

This could have been executed better, especially with more time, but it served its purpose. Gable and Otis have not fully worked so far. The reason was because it was unclear where it was going. Gable just seemed to be headed for a beatdown when Otis saw through him.

Instead, it has moved in a more interesting direction. Otis is truly learning from Gable. He's clearly in better shape. Now, his attitude is evolving as well. The two can be a good tag team if the two can work in sync, and that adds an interesting team to the division.

It is a shame though that Heavy Machinery was broken up just so that Otis could team with Gable instead. Tucker has more or less been discarded.

Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan and Cesaro vs. Jey Uso, King Corbin and Sami Zayn

7 OF 7

Just before the match, Daniel Bryan and Cesaro questioned whether Kevin Owens would turn on them like he had all his past partners. Edge joined commentary to scout the potential competition.

Cesaro showed off early, swinging Sami Zayn and King Corbin for minutes. Jey Uso grabbed The Swiss Cyborg and threw him over the announce table. Paul Heyman arrived to join commentary to go back and forth with The Rated-R Superstar.

The Master Strategist gladly talked trash as Cesaro got beat down but was silenced by the hot tag from Daniel Bryan. Kevin Owens slipped outside to take out Corbin with a cannonball off the apron.

Zayn hit a Blue Thunder Bomb then went to the top rope. However, that was The Master Strategist's last mistake. Bryan caught him with a superplex unto the Yes Lock for a quick tap out by Zayn to preserve his health.

Everyone in the match went after each other after the bell until Uso speared Edge followed by Reigns catching The Rated-R Superstar with a Spear of his own.

    Result

    Analysis

This was far from the level of impact that we got on Monday Night Raw with the gauntlet match. However, he was a solid match thanks to Cesaro. He did the heavy-lifting in this contest physically, showing out in a big way, before the others got in the big moments at the end.

The action did look a little too choreographed at times, especially given the wrestlers involved. It all built to Bryan gaining some momentum that was immediately overshadowed by Edge and Reigns building their rivalry past the wrestlers in the Elimination Chamber.

While WWE should be building toward WrestleMania, it was a mistake to let the go-home show end with a moment that was not about the immediate pay-per-view. This makes it all too clear that Reigns will retain.
