Tony D’Angelo looks to add gold to his “family” in title fight with Carmelo Hayes

With Legado del Fantasma under his thumb, Tony D’Angelo has the strongest “family” in NXT, but there’s one more thing “The Don” needs to solidify his status: gold around his waist.
And he has his sights set on Carmelo Hayes and the North American Championship. After being threatened by D’Angelo, the self-proclaimed “A Champion” responded by interrupting D’Angelo’s Omerta Ceremony to let “The Don” know who really runs the show.
After a brief argument, Hayes & Trick Williams dispatched of D’Angelo’s comrades in a tag team bout to send a message to D’Angelo and add to the tension between the “family” and Legado del Fantasma.
Will D’Angelo get everyone on the same page in his title fight with Hayes, or will the two-time North American Champion continue his dominant reign?

Solo Sikoa ready to silence Grayson Waller

Solo Sikoa is still resolute in his pursuit of the North American Championship, but Grayson Waller doesn’t care about Sikoa’s claims that “he’s got next.”
Despite receiving the loss in his tag team match against Sikoa and a returning Apollo Crews, Waller proclaimed that Sikoa rode Crews’ coattails to victory. Looking to prove that was not the case, “The Street Champion of the Island” proposed they put that theory to the test one-on-one.
Has “The Arrogant Aussie’s” mouth written a check his body can’t cash? Find out Tuesday night on NXT 2.0 at 8/7 C

Alba Fyre and Lash Legend set to collide in massive showdown

Since reconnecting with her roots, Alba Fyre has taken NXT 2.0 by storm, dominating all those who have stepped up to challenge her, but Lash Legend can take the heat.
The outspoken Superstar is sick of hearing about Fyre’s past and let her know about it with a devastating Pump Handle Kick as Fyre walked away from her recent match with Tatum Paxley.
A record-breaking athlete on the track and the basketball court, Legend claims the only history NXT 2.0 should be talking about is hers.
Can Legend stomp out the rising flames, or will Fyre burn brighter than ever when the two dominant Superstars collide in the ring?

WWE Raw Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from June 20

Wrestling Reality Team!

    Credit: WWE.com

Welcome to Wrestling Reality's coverage and recap of WWE Raw on June 20.

The buildup continued this week for the Money in the Bank pay-per-view with more qualifying bouts to see who would compete in the titular ladder matches at the event.

We also saw Elias return to Raw for the first time in several months to reunite with his brother Ezekiel for a special concert.

Let's take a look at everything that happened on Monday's Raw.

Asuka vs. Morgan vs. Lynch vs. Bliss vs. Carmella

1 OF 6

Raw opened with Bianca Belair coming to the ring to inform us that Rhea Ripley would be unable to challenge her for the Raw women's title at MITB. She announced the five competitors who will be in a Fatal 5-Way to find a new challenger.

This led to Liv Morgan, Carmella, Asuka, Lynch and Alexa Bliss coming out to say a few words before the match started. Asuka and Lynch took each other out of the ring while the other three women stayed in.

This bout was basically a series of different combinations of opponents with the occasional multi-woman spot with three or more competitors. It was the usual setup for this kind of match. Most of the time, only two people were in the ring at the same time.

We saw some good athleticism and creative spots, but something about it kept this from going from good to great. Maybe they played it too safe. Maybe there were too many moving parts. It's hard to say.

Carmella ended up scoring the win with a superkick to Morgan to earn herself a title shot.

    Grade: B-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • It was nice to see referee Tim White receive a memorial graphic. He was part of some big matches and moments during his career.
    • The pair of sunglasses Lynch wore this week were surprisingly normal. They were a little big but not as outlandish as some of her other recent fashion choices.
    • The spot where two people roll around the ring trying to reverse an inside cradle only works in some situations. It felt unnecessary here.
    • This might be one of the first times Belair sat at ringside for a match and did not get attacked or have someone thrown into her.
    • Carmella has a decent superkick.

Riddle vs. Omos

2 OF 6

After we got a recap of Riddle vs. Roman Reigns from SmackDown, The Bro came to the ring to give a promo and face Omos for a spot in the men's MITB match.

For once, it felt like Riddle was trying to give a semi-serious promo. The stoner humor was kept to a minimum, so he came across as more focused than ever.

When the match began, Riddle ran right at the giant in an attempt to catch him off guard. It worked for a few moments, but one big slam from Omos put him down.

After a decent fight, Omos scored the win to earn a spot at MITB. Putting Omos in the ring with guys like Riddle is a good move. They can do a bunch of their big spots, and the giant can catch them and throw them around. Giants just work better with guys who are not powerhouses in their own right.

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Riddle is not a small dude, so when somebody like Omos makes him look tiny, you really get an idea of just how big Omos is.
    • Riddle basically hit Jeff Hardy's Whisper in the Wind at one point. Omos barely stumbled backward.
    • Seth Rollins and Riddle as a feud seems like a good next move for both men. No matter who comes out on top, the fans will get some good matches out of it.

Jey Uso vs. Angelo Dawkins

3 OF 6

United States champion Theory came to the ring for a promo. Despite losing the posedown from last week with Bobby Lashley, Theory talked a big game about being the future. He did some more posing before realizing Lashley was standing behind him.

The All Mighty sprayed him in the face with baby oil and sent him out of the ring. This was just Lashley getting a little revenge, but it added nothing new to their blossoming feud.

The nest match featured Jey Uso battling Angelo Dawkins. Jimmy Uso and Montez Ford were at ringside to support their partners as they usually do.

Ford is the high-flying member of his team, so a lot of people always look at him as the most exciting. However, nobody should sleep on Dawkins. He is great when it's time for him to hit a sequence of big moves.

Dawkins was able to get the win to give his team some momentum leading to their title showdown at MITB.

    Grade: B-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • If Theory can focus on being an amazing athlete and leave some of the other stuff behind, he has a bright future in this business. Unfortunately, he's just not that funny without The Way by his side.
    • The Usos and Profits are one of those combos that, even though we have all seen it a million times and want something new, they still make it fun every single time. It's a tough thing to be upset at when it's a really good match.

Bobby Lashley vs. Otis, Gable and Theory

4 OF 6

For the first time in several months, Elias appeared in a WWE ring with his guitar in hand to play a concert. It didn't take long for Kevin Owens to break up the party.

We saw a video of Ezekiel backstage to make it appear as if he was really just the brother of Elias, but KO never bought it for a second. The segment still ended with Elias smashing a guitar over his back. This was fun, but nothing really surprising happened. This is probably how a lot of people predicted this would go down.

The next match was a special handicap gauntlet match. If Lashley could defeat Chad Gable, Otis and Theory, he would earn a U.S. title shot at MITB.

Gable was up first and tried to use his technical ability, but Lashley is just as technically sound and twice as strong, so Gable was the underdog in several ways. The All Mighty obviously defeated and moved on to face Otis, who he also defeated.

Alpha Academy made sure to leave Lashley as hurt as possible before Theory came down as the final opponent. After surviving a short onslaught, Lashley used an improvised roll-up to score the win and earn a title shot.

    Grade: B-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • The beard they gave Elias only looks convincing if you don't have HD on your TV.
    • Whenever Gable faces someone who is even close to his level of technical ability, it is always entertaining. WWE should just be putting him in 15-minute matches every week.
    • The fact that Otis has been two completely different versions of himself and has been able to get both versions over is impressive. He was so popular before the pandemic, so changing his gimmick was a big risk.
    • Otis being able to counter a lot of finishers is something that should be a bigger part of his character. Orton could almost never hit the RKO on him, and Lashley couldn't apply the Hurt Lock. Avoiding finishers should be his thing.

Miz TV and Ciampa vs. AJ Styles

5 OF 6

This week's installment of Miz TV featured AJ Styles as his special guest. The same thing that always happens on this show happened again.

At first, The Miz was cordial, but the conversation quickly turned hostile when he insulted his guest. The Phenomenal One saw through his game and told him he wouldn't be pushed into a fight. Then he punched The A-Lister in the face, so he must have been lying.

This was about as run of the mill as a talk show segment gets. It was fine but no better than that. The best part was the match that came after between Ciampa and Styles.

For a lot of people who have followed Ciampa in NXT and before, seeing him face Styles is somewhat of a dream match, so getting it as a random encounter on Raw will likely lead to some mixed reactions from fans.

Even without any buildup, this was still a fun encounter. Ciampa was not presented as strongly as some would like, but at least we got to see him in the ring, so there's that.

The Phenomenal One scored a quick win, but he also got the last laugh when he hit The Miz with the Styles Clash. Let's hope the next time Ciampa and Styles meet, they get more time.

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • The fact that The Miz is one of the few people who can claim to have held the MITB briefcase twice is something he should brag about more often. It's a rare statistic to be able to claim.
    • Styles making fun of The Miz and his tiny balls should not be funny. It's sophomoric and immature, to say the least. But sometimes, the best jokes are exactly that. The Miz and Styles made it work despite this joke having no right to be funny at all.

Becky Lynch vs. Asuka

6 OF 6

The main event of the evening featured Lynch and Asuka battling again after competing in the opening bout, but this time it was in a singles bout for a spot in the women's MITB match.

These two always put on a good show together, so there is no need to go into specifics. Everything they did looked good, and they made it feel like either woman could win multiple times.

Trying to steal each other's finishing move was a fun sequence, but when the dust settled, Asuka used a brutal roundhouse kick to the head to defeat Big Time Becks and earn her spot at the PPV.

We've seen this match multiple times in recent months, but it hasn't worn out its welcome yet. It might not take much more to get to that point, but for now, this was a strong main event.

    Grade: A-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Lynch does so many little things in the ring that are funny. Facial expressions, little body movements and other bits of her performance make her so much fun to watch.
    • It might be time for Asuka to do something to freshen up her character a bit. Maybe she should be more serious again, or maybe she should really lean into the comedy stuff. It's hard to say, but it feels like she is running in place and needs a push in any direction to get going again.
    • The spinning backfist is one of those moves that you can easily hit too hard if you are not looking in the right place at the right time. Asuka always hits it clean and safe but still makes it look stiff.
