AEW Dynamite Results for November 16, 2022

Sana Ejaz Khan

Tonight’s episode of AEW DYNAMITE was broadcast live from the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, CT!

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Ian Riccaboni, and “The Human Suplex Machine” Taz were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.

It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!

The Blackpool Combat Club—Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli

vs.

The Jericho Appreciation Society—ROH World Champion Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara!

The match immediately broke down into a brawl between both teams! Danielson went right after Sammy and Claudio clocked Chris Jericho!

Bryan captured Sammy’s arms and applied the Romero special. Claudio tagged in and Sammy backflipped over him and then took him down with a dropkick.

Claudio hit Sammy with a delayed vertical suplex and followed up with a suplex to Jericho. Claudio splashed both of them at once!

Jericho flipped off Danielson but Danielson grabbed Jericho’s hands and twisted them.

“Saturday it’ll be every man for himself for the title,” said Taz.

Danielson charged into the corner with a running knee to Sammy! He tried again but Sammy countered with a drop toehold. Jericho smacked Danielson in the injured eye with his baseball bat as the ref was distracted!

Danielson ducked a lariat attempt from Jericho and fired back with a running strike of his own. Claudio tagged in and sent Sammy flying into Jericho! Claudio connected with a series of European Uppercuts to Jericho.

Claudio grabbed Jericho, looking for the swing, but Sammy blasted Claudio with a thrust kick. Jericho locked on the Walls of Jericho. Danielson blasted Jericho with a shotgun dropkick off the top rope to give Claudio the assist.

Danielson and Sammy both tagged in and Danielson rocked Sammy with multiple round kicks! Sammy went to Bryan’s eyes and then hit him with a knee strike. Danielson countered the GTH with the LeBell Lock but Sammy escaped by reaching the bottom rope.

Sammy walloped Danielson with a cutter off the top turnbuckle. Jericho followed up with the lionsault for a near fall but Claudio was there to make the save. Danielson and Jericho collided in the center of the ring.

Claudio grabbed Jericho in the Giant Swing and then locked in the Scorpion Deathlock, forcing Jericho to tap out!

“Claudio once again had Chris Jericho’s number,” said Excalibur.

“Claudio has got to be a favorite going into Saturday night,” replied Schiavone.

AEW World Tag Team Champion Anthony Bowens (with “Platinum” Max Caster & Daddy Ass) vs. Swerve Strickland!

Daddy Ass jumped Swerve as Swerve was making his entrance!

Back in the ring, Bowens booted Swerve. Swerve wrenched on Bowens’ arm and then dropkicked Bowens in the face.

Swerve jumped and flipped over the top rope, landing on Bowens. He followed up with a boot off the apron to Swerve. Swerve threw Bowens over the guardrail.

Bowens swept out the leg of Swerve who was on the middle rope. Bowens took Swerve off his feet with a shoulder tackle. Swerve retaliated with a brainbuster on Bowens. Swerve caught Bowens with a kick to the head. Swerve hit the Swerve Stomp right on the money for a near fall!

“Tremendous perseverance by Bowens,” said Excalibur.

Swerve drilled Bowens with the Driver and then pinned him!

“You can see Bowens clutching that right shoulder. What shape will he be in this Saturday night?” wondered Excalibur.

Up next: Tony Schiavone interviewed ROH World TV Champion Samoa Joe!

Samoa Joe: “You state that it is a shocker what I did to Wardlow? Is it shocking for a man to refuse to be a victim? Is it shocking that Wardlow, week after week, ran his mouth and failed to recognize the most dangerous man in the room? And for that mistake he paid the ultimate price.

“I refuse to be a victim like most of the people in this building tonight. I saved myself! And if you or anybody else has a problem with it, they can take it up with me.”

Powerhouse Hobbs walked onto the ramp!

Hobbs: “If you haven’t noticed, I’m the one who has been kicking Wardlow’s ass for the past several weeks. So why don’t I come down to the ring and kick your ass champ.”

Wardlow’s music hit! Wardlow jumped into the ring and speared Samoa Joe! Hobbs swarmed Wardlow. The locker room cleared in an attempt to keep the three men apart! Wardlow jumped over the top rope and wiped out the pile of men outside the ring!

“Wardlow is the last man standing!” said Excalibur.

AEW World Trios Championship Match!

Death Triangle (c.)—PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo, & Rey Fenix (with Alex Abrahantes)

vs.

AR Fox & Top Flight—Dante Martin & Darius Martin!

Darius flipped Rey over the top rope but Rey Fenix jumped right back in. Darius followed up with an arm drag and then avoided a kick from Rey Fenix.

PAC and AR Fox tagged in for their respective teams. PAC ducked a lariat attempt but then AR Fox turned PAC inside out with a leg lariat. AR Fox landed a cutter on PAC. AR Fox vaulted off the ring post and landed a moonsault on PAC. AR Fox followed up with a senton atomico.

Top Flight launched PAC into a waiting cutter from AR Fox! The Lucha Bros came in with thrust kicks. Darius connected with a running boot to PAC. Darius followed up with a brainbuster for a near fall.

Top Flight wiped out Death Triangle with an aerial assault, and then AR Fox followed up with a huge dive himself! Fox connected with a 450 splash on Rey Fenix for a near fall!

Penta El Zero Miedo kicked AR Fox in the ribs. The Lucha Bros smashed Fox with the Fear Factor. PAC bombed Fox with the Black Arrow and then pinned him!

“The champions retained,” said Excalibur.

PAC: “Ladies and gentlemen, let me ask you a question. Do you think the Death Triangle are stupid? Do you think we’re not aware of what’s going on? Do you think we haven’t seen the videos? Heard the rumors.

“If there are certain individuals who think they can make their triumphant return this Saturday at FULL GEAR and if they think they can just mosey in and best the Death Triangle, well that’s ridiculous.

“And you know who you are. So I will say this, and I’ll make it simple: if you want some this Saturday, then please bring the heat, because I promise you Death Triangle runs from nobody.”

A graphic appeared showing it’ll be The Elite against Death Triangle this Saturday!

Backstage, Ricky Starks addressed “The MurderHawk Monster” Lance Archer.

Starks said it’ll be him against Archer on RAMPAGE this Friday!

Men’s World Title Eliminator Semi-Final Match!

“All Ego” Ethan Page (with The Firm’s Stokely Hathaway) vs. Bandido!

Page blocked a suplex from Bandido but then Bandido rallied back and hit the vertical suplex. Stokely grabbed Bandido’s boot and Page blindsided Bandido.

Bandido fought back with a moonsault off the ring post down onto Ethan Page on the arena floor!

“That is insane,” said Taz.

Bandido wiped out Ethan Page with a tornillo inside the ring! Bandido tried for the 21 Plex but Page had it scouted and fired back with a cutter for a near fall.

Ethan Page set up Bandido for the avalanche Ego’s Edge. Bandido countered with a hurracanrana and then powerslammed Page with one hand! Bandido smashed Page with a frog splash for a near fall!

Bandido climbed to the top turnbuckle but Page knocked him down, sending Bandido crashing and clutching his knee. Page bodyslammed Bandido off the ropes. Ethan Page launched Bandido with the Ego’s Edge and then pinned him!

AEW Interim Women’s World Championship Eliminator!

Toni Storm (c.) vs. Anna Jay A.S.!

Toni put a strong side headlock on Anna and then took her down to the mat. Toni hit a shoulder tackle on Anna Jay. Toni knocked Anna back with a big boot.

Anna Jay kicked Toni Storm in the head and then began stomping on her back. Storm was able to come back with a fisherman’s suplex. Toni sent Anna to the floor with the hip attack!

Anna planted Toni on the arena floor! Toni countered the Queen Slayer from Anna with a shotgun dropkick. Toni landed her second hip attack of the match. Toni locked on the Texas Cloverleaf and Anna immediately tapped out!

Jamie Hayter’s music hit! Jamie powerwalked to the ring and got in Toni’s face. They had a stare down ahead of their match this Saturday at the pay-per-view.

Up next: AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and William Regal made their way to the ring!

Mox: “I am Jon Moxley and I am the AEW World Champion. They say the championship doesn’t make the man, the man makes the championship. So who exactly is Jon Moxley? I’ll tell you. I am the best pro wrestler on the planet earth. I have taken on all comers and I have defined the AEW World Championship.

“The announcers say I love to fight like it’s a good thing. It’s not. I’m sick in the head, man. I am literally sick in the head. I am addicted to the rush of adrenaline and pain and being in wars. I love it man. You can’t really hurt me because I literally don’t care. That is who Jon Moxley is.

“Last week I asked the question: Who is MJF? And I am the world champion and I scout my opponents so I did some research to find out. He’s actually a really good singer. I found out he has exactly one win in this ring in the last six months. He took a summer vacation and came back with a Halloween mask. So figure me if I’m not exactly shaking in my boots.

“You people see the MJF he wants you to see. Prepared speeches, handpicked opponents. I see a kid playing wrestler. I see a man filled with fear that maybe he won’t live up to the hype. But you are going to see something very, very special at FULL GEAR. MJF is not challenging me. I am challenging MJF to show me he’s got some guts.”

Stokely Hathaway walked to the ring and the Firm blindsided Moxley and William Regal!

MJF’s music hit!

MJF dropped Lee Moriarty and the Gunns. MJF hit Ethan Page with a big left hand, clearing the field!

MJF: “Jon, while you’re laying there in a ton of pain. I did not save your ass because I like you. No, it’s because I didn’t want any of your fan club making excuses for you when I knock you out. When I got into this business my ultimate goal was to become the best wrestler in the world. And I know this Saturday I’m in for the fight of my life. But I’m not the same kid I was the first time we fought for that piece of gold.

“You can make me bleed buckets. But I will not stop because I need that belt more than I need oxygen. Because when you’re the man that holds the AEW World Title, that makes you the best wrestler on God’s green earth, and it’s my time!

“I heard you last week when you said I’m not the devil. Allow me to tell you the greatest trick the devil ever pulled is convincing the world he didn’t exist. And this Saturday at FULL GEAR you’ll find out I’m the devil himself.”

Mox: “You know, I never really saw what the big deal was with you anyway. But this weekend at FULL GEAR, we’re gonna find out, if you don’t have it, I’m going to reach in and pull it out of you. This Saturday the training wheels come off.”

WWE Raw Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from November 14

Sana Ejaz Khan

    Seth Rollins.
    WWE

Welcome to ProfessionalPK's coverage and recap of WWE Raw on November 14.

Survivor Series WarGames is coming up a week on Saturday, so WWE is still in full planning mode to set up the pay-per-view.

Monday's show featured some buildup, but we also saw some stories addressed that may not impact the PPV too much.

Seth Rollins battled Finn Bálor of The Judgment Day, Matt Riddle took on Chad Gable of Alpha Academy, and The Miz hosted another episode of his talk show.

Let's take a look at everything that happened during Monday's show.

Mustafa Ali vs. Bobby Lashley

1 OF 8

Raw opened with Seth Rollins heading to the ring to deliver a promo. We saw a recap of last week when Bobby Lashley destroyed The Visionary and then prevented Austin Theory from successfully cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

It didn't take The All Mighty long to join him in the ring and proclaim he would continue to dish out beatings until he gets the U.S. title back. Mustafa Ali came down with a referee because he wanted a match to get revenge for being attacked last week.

Ali tried to attack him twice, but Lashley was able to fend him off both times. He accepted the challenge for a match but warned him that he would regret it. The bell rang after a break and Ali immediately hit a running dropkick. The powerhouse was sent into the ring post before he picked Ali up and rammed his head into the same post.

Ali kept trying to make a comeback, but Lashley continued to stop him every single time. He almost looked amazed when his opponent continued to get to his feet, but that didn't stop him from continuing to dish out punishment.

After hitting a big Spear, The All Mighty applied the Hurt Lock for the win.

This was by no means a competitive match, but the first 20 minutes of Raw delivered some solid entertainment. The promo from Rollins was fun, Ali looked valiant in defeat, and Lashley looked as dominant as possible. It was exactly what it needed to be even if it had a few sloppy moments.

    Winner: Bobby Lashley

    Grade: B-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Rollins is clearly a babyface but still acting as cocky as ever. It's a nice change of pace from babyfaces in WWE always acting like good guys.
    • When Lashley is allowed to be who he wants, he is very good on the mic.
    • The spot The All Mighty does when he runs his opponents into the ring post always looks so brutal. It's one of his best moves.
    • The first tornado DDT attempt did not go well, but Ali hit it flush the second time.

Tamina vs. Mia Yim

2 OF 8

Following her surprising return last week, Mia Yim had her first match back under the WWE banner on Monday when she battled Tamina.

The HBIC was paired with Tamina to prove she could take on a powerhouse like Rhea Ripley. While Tamina may not have had as much success as The Nightmare, especially in recent years, she definitely fits the bill from a physical standpoint.

Ripley and Dominik Mysterio came out to watch the action, so Tamina was able to capitalize on the distraction. But it was Yim who won out in the end with Eat Defeat.

This match was short and had a few moments that showed a lack of chemistry between these two competitors. The crowd gave the bout nothing until it began to show some signs of life when Ripley teased a confrontation but backed down.

    Winner: Mia Yim

    Grade: C-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Luke Gallows said he is responsible for bringing Yim in because he has a way with the ladies. Who would have thought Festus would be bragging about his prowess with the opposite sex all these years later?
    • Tamina looked good when she tried to hit the Superfly Splash. Sometimes she doesn't get a lot of distance or elevation, but this jump had it.
    • There was a moment when Yim was going to whip Tamina into the corner, and it looked like Tamina had no idea what to do.

Chad Gable vs. Matt Riddle

3 OF 8

Riddle and Chad Gable met for the third match of the night following a brief encounter backstage. These two had several encounters earlier in the year when RK-Bro held the tag team titles, so they may have had some unfinished business.

Both have grappling skills to spare, so they had a nice technical exchange for the first few minutes. Riddle used more strikes than Gable, but it wasn't his main source of offense.

While The Original Bro can be obnoxious at times, there is no denying his physical ability. He and Gable are both elite athletes who know how to put on good matches, and this was no exception.

Riddle began to build some momentum after a commercial break, but Gable was able to use a backslide to score the pin with a little help from Otis holding his feet on the bottom rope for leverage.

You will be hard-pressed to find a match as proficient and competitive as we saw here this week. Both men brought their A-game.

    Winner: Chad Gable

    Grade: A-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • The fluidity with which Gable moves is unmatched. Few people have his level of confidence in the ring.
    • Gable's German suplex off the top turnbuckle looked awesome. Riddle floating over and landing on his stomach helped sell the move, too.
    • Yelling "Shoosh" and "Bro" at each other was a little annoying, but the crowd seemed to enjoy it.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Dominik Mysterio

4 OF 8

After a segment with The Miz, Johnny Gargano and Dexter Lumis, Shelton Benjamin and Dominik Mysterio had a match that was booked after the two had a verbal altercation backstage. Ripley and Damian Priest were in Dom's corner.

After being backed to the corner, the young star slapped Benjamin and then hopped out of the ring to avoid a response. He tried to attack his opponent from behind, but The Gold Standard quickly regained the upper hand.

Mysterio knew he was outmatched physically, so he tried relying on dirty tricks to get the advantage. It worked a few times, but Benjamin was not about to go down easy.

The Judgment Day member was able to use a distraction from his allies to ram Benjamin into the ring post and hit a Frog Splash for the win.

This match was OK, but it definitely showed off how much work 25-year-old Dom has to do before he is on the same level as someone like The Gold Standard.

    Winner: Dominik Mysterio

    Grade: B-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Leave a comment with what you think Ripley whispers to Dom every week.
    • Benjamin needs to be on TV more often. He's good on the mic, great in the ring and has veteran experience he can impart on the younger stars. He has such much value.
    • Some of the counters Benjamin used in this match were awesome. He is one of those guys who makes every little thing he does look good.

Dana Brooke vs. Iyo Sky

5 OF 8

Iyo Sky of Damage CTRL was in action this week against Dana Brooke. Nikki Cross was with Bayley and Dakota Kai at ringside, but she did not seem super-invested in what was going on.

As they all made their way to the ring, Cross was just kind of walking around looking up at the rafters. She seemed to be thinking about anything except what was going on in the arena.

Brooke was trying to take out her frustrations by getting an early advantage, but Sky was able to use her speed and agility to quickly take control. She eventually picked up the win with the Over the Moonsault.

This was nothing special, really, but Sky manages to stand out for her aerial ability even in the simplest of matches.

    Winner: Iyo Sky

    Grade: C

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • It seems WWE has officially dropped the 24/7 Championship. There was no mention of anyone using the title moving forward. They talked about it being thrown in the trash, so that is likely where it will stay.
    • Sky's entrance music is so much better than the Damage CTRL theme. She should still use that for singles matches.
    • Brooke has improved over the years...but not enough. She still looks uncertain of herself at times.
    • Yim came out after the match to let Damage CTRL know she was turning them down for WarGames because she was joining the opposing team.

Austin Theory vs. Dolph Ziggler

6 OF 8

Austin Theory gave a passionate promo about what has been going on with him lately, but he was interrupted by Dolph Ziggler.

They reignited their feud from a few months ago for a match so The Showoff could see if the former Mr. Money in the Bank has actually changed.

The former world champion put Theory through a short but physical matchup. And right before the break, the 25-year-old began to show more aggression.

Both of these guys are known for their athleticism and skill, so it should come as a shock to nobody that they worked well together. Then again, Ziggler works well with just about anyone.

After fighting out a sleeper, Theory began to punish Ziggler's shoulder by sending him into the ring post repeatedly.

Despite a close call with the Zig-Zag, Theory was able to hit two A-Town Downs in a row. He didn't try to pin Ziggler, though. Instead, he began beating him down even more at ringside until the ref called for the bell.

Theory continued to rip apart the ringside area as he unloaded on The Showoff. It took several officials to finally pull him away.

This might have been the best way to change Theory's character. The match was great and its ending did more for him than a simple win would have done. Let's hope he keeps this serious edge moving forward.

    Winner: Austin Theory

    Grade: A-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Theory did not have his cell phone with him, so the selfie part of his gimmick may be gone.
    • Do you think they both intentionally wore gear with camouflage designs or was that just a coincidence?
    • Nobody sells getting rammed into a turnbuckle better than Ziggler.
    • Seeing a more serious Theory gives hope that he can be rehabbed into a much less annoying character.

Baron Corbin vs. Akira Tozawa

7 OF 8

Akira Tozawa cleaned out Baron Corbin and JBL while playing poker backstage, so when Corbin tried to cheat, the former 205 Live regular challenged him to a match.

Despite giving up several inches and several dozen pounds, Tozawa was able to get in a lot of offense against The New Wrestling God.

However, Corbin caught him flying off the top rope and hit End of Days for a quick win.

The backstage segment leading up to this match was actually kind of funny, but the bout itself only served to illustrate how talented and underused Tozawa is right now.

Corbin winning made sense from a booking standpoint, but the crowd would have popped big if it had gone the other way.

    Winner: Baron Corbin

    Grade: C

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Triple H has made so many positive changes since he took over WWE Creative. The one thing he still needs to do is stop letting Tozawa dress like a ninja.
    • Corbin sidestepping a suicide dive to send his rival into the barricade looked brutal.

Seth Rollins vs. Finn Bálor (U.S. Title)

8 OF 8

Bálor and Rollins have fought many times over the years, and they stepped into the ring once again this week with the United States Championship on the line.

These two are similar in experience and skills, but Rollins had a slight power and height advantage, so he had the upper hand at first. The Prince stayed in the fight by using his speed and technical ability to counter almost anything he could dish out.

After being shoved into the announce table, The Visionary found himself on defense. WWE gave them a long time to work and they packed a lot into it, so giving a full breakdown would take forever. What everybody should do is take the time to watch the full match because it was as good as you would expect it to be.

These are two of the most versatile veterans working today. There is an extra level of shine to everything they do, so when you put two guys like that together, it's a guaranteed recipe for success.

The O.C. and The Judgment Day ended up fighting around the ring as the contest was coming to a close, so there was mayhem everywhere. Rollins used the opportunity to hit a Stomp for the win to retain the title in a fantastic main event.

Theory attacked Rollins out of nowhere once it was over and ended the show standing tall with the U.S. title in his hands.

    Winner: Seth Rollins

    Grade: A-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • The Visionary had a brief interaction with Otis and Gable backstage that was way funnier than it should have been.
    • The crowd cannot get enough of singing Rollins' music.
    • Bálor is great at not looking like an underdog just because he is smaller than most of his opponents. For some reason, it's easy to take him seriously as a threat to just about anybody.
    • The way Rollins hit the corner of the announce table looked painful. He sold it well.
    • Rollins has a great sit-out powerbomb. He lands with his legs already on top of his opponent's arms instead of having to adjust after the landing.
