WWE Extreme Rules 2022 Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights

Welcome to ProfessionalPK's coverage and recap of WWE Extreme Rules 2022.

While the "White Rabbit" teasers have been the biggest mystery in pro wrestling over the past few weeks, we also had some great matches to watch this weekend.

The women's division was spotlighted in a unique way since the only two titles defended on the card were the Raw and SmackDown women's titles.

Every match had a special stipulation, so we saw plenty of weapons, lots of mayhem and even a bit of blood.

Let's take a look at what went down during Saturday's show.

The Brawling Brutes vs. Imperium (Good Old-Fashioned Donnybrook)

1 OF 6

As the Brawling Brutes made their entrance for the opening bout with Imperium, another White Rabbit teaser played for a moment but was completely ignored by the announcers.

As soon as the ref called for the bell, all six men paired up and began to fight. Sheamus went after Gunther, Butch focused on Giovanni Vinci, and Ridge Holland attacked Ludwig Kaiser.

The ring was surrounded by barrels, a small bar setup and several other things you would find in a typical European pub. All of it came into play along with several other things in the ringside area.

This match was chaotic in the best possible way. Everyone was working their butts off and put on one hell of a match. After all was said and done, The Brawling Brutes were able to vanquish Imperium for the win.

    Winners: The Brawling Brutes

    Grade: A-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Imperium's red ring jackets are such a specific shade that always looks weird on certain types of HD televisions.
    • The dropkick Butch hit on Kaiser as he hung upside down in the corner with a shillelagh against his neck was a cool spot.
    • God bless Sheamus for always being willing to take a beating. His chest looked so painful.
    • The way this match used weapons and other props was great. It was nuts, but it didn't quite reach the level of being overboard.

Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey (Extreme Rules, SmackDown Women's Title)

2 OF 6

Liv Morgan looked fired up for her match against Ronda Rousey. She carried a bat with her to the ring for this Extreme Rules match.

Rousey prevented her from using the weapon right away, so Morgan was immediately on defense without it.

After finally getting her hands on the bat, the champion began to turn the tide in her favor. Using things like the bat and a fire extinguisher allowed her to even the odds a bit, but Rousey ended up nailing her in the ribs with a bat to completely stall her momentum.

Some of the chair and bat shots may not have looked great, but they had enough spots using other weapons and moves to make up for it. They worked better in this match than in their previous encounters, but there still seemed to be something that kept them from meshing the way they needed to.

This match had plenty to enjoy, but it would be hard for anyone to follow what Imperium and The Brawling Brutes did in the opener. Rousey and Morgan did an admirable job, but there's no doubt it could have been better.

It's difficult to say exactly what the issue was, but something just didn't click despite a fantastic effort from both Superstars. After a long struggle and several close calls, Rousey was able to make the champion pass out to win back the SmackDown Women's Championship.

Winner: Ronda Rousey wins the SmackDown women's title by submission

    Grade: B-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • As the crowd booed during her entrance, Rousey mocked them by making some crying mannerisms. It was decent heel work.
    • Morgan looked great during her entrance. Whoever made her jacket and gear went all out on the design.
    • The shot Morgan took from the bat as she jumped off the stairs was wild. It looked great, but it did not seem to be nearly as bad as it appeared at first glance.
    • Rousey using her black belt is something a lot of people will not realize is super-effective. Those belts are heavy, durable and definitely painful if used as a whip.

Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross

3 OF 6

Karrion Kross and Drew McIntyre met for a Strap match, but Kross did not want to allow the strap to be tied to his wrist. He attacked The Scottish Warrior before the bell, and they fought for several minutes while the ref looked on from the ring helpless to stop them.

This bout was quite the fight, but it felt like something was keeping it from reaching the level they were likely hoping for. It was good but not great.

What can be said is that both men put forward their best efforts. Scarlett pepper-sprayed McIntyre, which allowed Kross to nail him from behind and get the pin.

    Winner: Karrion Kross

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • This was the first time since his return that you could see how busy Kross' hair has gotten since he stopped shaving his head.
    • Having them fight for so long before the bell felt unnecessary.
    • It was surprising how long it took some of the welts to start showing up. They weren't holding back with those shots.

Bianca Belair vs. Bayley (Ladder Match Raw Women's Championship)

4 OF 6

Bayley and Bianca Belair were up next in a ladder match for the Raw Women's Championship. Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky did not stay at ringside, but their presence loomed throughout.

It didn't take long for both women to begin utilizing the ladders that were placed around the ring. They were used in all of the typical ways other than climbing, so there were several memorable spots that saw both competitors take a lot of pain.

Predictably, Sky and Kai interfered and tried to stop Belair from reaching the belt, but The EST of WWE hit both women with a KOD at the same time in an impressive display of power. It was awkward to set up, but the payoff was worth it.

This match got better as it went, so the crowd was on its feet by the time Belair climbed the ladder and took down the belt to claim victory.

    Winner: Bianca Belair

    Grade: B+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Nikkita Lyons was shown sitting in the crowd in quite an interesting outfit.
    • The elbow drop Bayley hit from the apron while Belair was on the ladder was intense. Both women took nasty bumps.
    • The final KOD of the match was scary. Bayley appeared to hit her mouth right on the side of a ladder when she landed, but the post-match shots of her indicated she was fine. She might have a fat lip in the morning, though.
    • Bayley is so good at making her opponents look good; Belair already looks great in the ring, but The Role Model made her look even better.

Finn Bálor vs. Edge ('I Quit' Match)

5 OF 6

Finn Bálor was out alone for his match against Edge. Nobody from The Judgment Day came out with him, so he was clearly trying to send the message that he did not need help to beat his opponent.

While Edge was certainly aggressive, the first several minutes mostly belonged to the Irishman. As time went on, The Rated-R Superstar's slight advantage in experience began to work in his favor.

Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio showed up to help Bálor at one point, but the veteran took them down at ringside. Rhea Ripley handcuffed Edge to the top rope as he was setting up a Spear.

Rey showed up and fought with his son, and Beth Phoenix helped save her husband from a kendo-stick attack. Eventually, the numbers game was too much for Edge to overcome. He refused to quit until they began threatening to injure The Glamazon with a pair of chairs.

As Ripley was winding up for the swing, Edge said "I quit" to save her and give Bálor the win. While Edge was still being held back, Ripley hit The Glamazon with the chair anyway.

The Judgment Day walked away in victory as Edge tried to help his wife with some officials.

This match was overbooked and didn't need to be this long, but it was still a solid outing from two guys who are almost incapable of turning in a bad performance.

    Winner: Finn Bálor

    Grade: B

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Bálor wore a cool spiked mask for his entrance. This wasn't his Demon entrance, but it had a few elements of that sprinkled into it.
    • The ref did a great job not overdoing it by asking if either man wanted to quit.
    • The use of the hockey stick was fun.
    • Ripley with a pair of handcuffs is going to be a popular topic on Twitter.

Matt Riddle vs. Seth Rollins (Fight Pit)

6 OF 6

Daniel Cormier was the official for the main event Fight Pit match between Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins.

The setup for this cage is interesting if you have never seen it. The ring ropes are removed and there is an extra level to the structure that the competitors can stand on several feet above the normal ring.

This was the most physical encounter these two have had, and while the cage lent to that, it was not the entire reason. Both were giving it their all and earned their spot in the main event with this performance.

The biggest spot saw Riddle hit a senton from the first level of the cage all the way to the mat. He locked in a submission after struggling to recover from the landing, and Rollins eventually gave up to give The Original Bro what is arguably the biggest win of his career.

For many people, this will likely be the Match of the Night. As Riddle was leaving, the lights dropped in the arena and everyone began to hold up their phones as lights. "He's Got the Whole World in his Hands" began to play over the sound system.

We began seeing spotlights show people in the crowd dressed as the characters from the Firefly Fun House. A video played showing a decrepit set from the children's show. A door appeared on the stage and burst open to reveal a masked man holding a lantern.

The figure removed the mask to reveal himself as Bray Wyatt to the biggest pop of the night. He blew out the lantern and his new logo appeared to end the show. This was a fantastic reveal and an intriguing way to end the show.

    Winner: Matt Riddle

    Grade: A

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Rollins had on an awesome ring jacket with some graphics of a dragon on the front.
    • The way Riddle screamed after The Visionary hit him with a frog splash was blood-curdling.
    • Riddle sold a Stomp the way you would expect Rob Van Dam to sell it. He went right down on the top of his head.
    • The way the crowd played into the whole reveal of Wyatt was perfect. WWE could not have gotten a better response to all of this.
