Welcome to Wrestling Reality's coverage of WWE Raw on August 8.
After winning two big matches last week, including one over AJ Styles, Ciampa earned the right to challenge Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship on Monday's show.
The ongoing feud between the Mysterios and Judgment Day continued this week when Rey Mysterio stepped into the ring with Finn Balor.
Balor, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley had to grow eyes in the backs of their heads with Edge making his return to WWE and having his sights set on his former group.
Let's look at what happened during Monday's episode of WWE Raw.
Bayley, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai opened Raw with a promo after getting a long video package to recap the events of last week. The Role Model got a little heated while yelling at the crowd, so Dakota took over for her until Alexa Bliss, Asuka and Bianca Belair interrupted.
This led to a brawl that took us into the first commercial. When we returned, it was time for Angelo Dawkins to get a shot at Seth Rollins after Montez Ford failed to get the win last week.
What we saw here was Dawkins taking this opportunity and making the most of it. He worked without a shirt to show off the changes to his physique, and he also showed off some of the additions he has made to his arsenal.
Ford was booted from ringside after almost attacking Rollins with a chair, and that allowed Rollins to take control again and score the win with a Pedigree. He also hit a post-match Stomp to drive home how evil he is.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Grade: B+

After a quick backstage interview with The Miz and Ciampa, we saw another match between Ezekiel and Kevin Owens. It was awesome to hear Ciampa talk about the impact Harley Race had on his career.
It feels like this feud was on the back burner for a little while, so KO was making up for lost time by being as aggressive as possible from the moment the bell rang.
He powerbombed Zeke into the apron, and the ref called for help from the back. The match never really ended with a bell, but it's clear WWE was trying to make Owens look like a badass, and it succeeded.
We were, unfortunately, deprived of a full match, but if this is what leads to Elias coming back, it will all be worth it.
Grade: C+
Earlier in the night, Edge tried to apologize to Dominik for Spearing him last week, but Dom did not seem to want to accept his apology. Balor was the first to make his entrance for his match against Rey. Damian Priest was with him, but Rhea Ripley was nowhere to be seen.
Edge offered to be in Rey's corner since Dom appeared to have left him high and dry, but Rey was confident his son would show up for him.
Balor took control immediately and cornered Rey for a stiff chop, but the luchador was able to turn things around with a few kicks before he sent The Prince out of the ring with a headscissor takeover.
Both of these men are known for their ability to work at a fast pace, so that is exactly what they did for most of this match. It was exciting and allowed both of them to stand out as the talented athletes they are.
They were given a long time to work, so this match had plenty of their signature spots mixed in throughout. Priest tripped Rey on the apron, so Edge ran down and fought him into the crowd. Ripley arrived carrying a lifeless Dom, and that was enough to distract Rey so Balor could hit the Coup de Grave for the win.
Winner: Finn Balor

Notable Moments and Observations
The first match in the Women's Tag Team Championship tournament saw Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky take on Dana Brooke and a former women's tag team champion, Tamina.
Dakota and Dana started for their teams and the 24/7 champion managed to get the upper hand right away. Tamina tagged in and demonstrated her power by easily taking out both opponents.
This bout had a lot of entertaining moments and seemed slightly more aggressive than expected. After a running kick from Dakota, Iyo took out Tamina with a moonsault to get the win. Other than one or two moments that were mistimed, this was one of the better matches we have seen from Brooke and Tamina in a long time.
Winners: Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky
Grade: B-
Notable Moments and Observations
Ciampa came out wearing a Harley Race ring robe for his U.S. title match against Lashley. The Miz was there with him to provide support.
The All Mighty was able to take control early by using his significant size and power advantage. He hit a nice vertical suplex before cornering Ciampa for some mounted punches.
Lashley used Ciampa as a weapon to take out The Miz at one point, but the former NXT champion was able to rebound after we returned from a commercial. After The Miz helped Ciampa get his foot on the bottom rope to avoid a pin, AJ Styles attacked The A-Lister and chased him into the crowd.
They ended up coming back toward the ring and the distraction allowed Ciampa to push Lashley into an exposed turnbuckle. The champ survived an onslaught of big moves and near-falls before Ciampa tapped out to the Hurt Lock.
Not only was this a standout performance for Ciampa since he arrived on the main roster, but it was a great title defense for Lashley as he tries to bring some prestige back to the belt. This was fantastic and probably should have been the main event.
Winner: Bobby Lashley
Grade: A-
Notable Moments and Observations
Omos had a handicap match this week against two local talents. This was exactly what you would expect it to be. Omos scored the win in a couple of minutes after dominating both men the entire time. This was a squash match that accomplished its goal, but it wasn't anything special.
Winner: Omos
Grade: C-
Next up was Chad Gable taking on a fellow Superstar with a declared history as an amateur wrestler, Dolph Ziggler.
They started with some basic takedowns and reversals to show off their technical ability, but they came to a stalemate and it turned into a shoving match before they engaged again.
This remained competitive without either man throwing a single strike for the first few minutes. This was a unique display of mat wrestling, especially for WWE. It worked because both men are great at what they do, but it's not the kind of match you can expect out of most Superstars. That's part of why it stood out so much from the rest of the show.
Ziggler ended up getting the win with a superkick that seemed to surprise both Gable and the crowd. This was pure pro wrestling and a lot of fun.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
Grade: B+
Notable Moments and Observations
The main event of the evening picked up where the U.S. title match left off with Styles and The Miz. This bout had no disqualifications, so The Phenomenal One was looking to hurt his opponent.
While Styles was the aggressor at first, The Miz was able to use the stipulation to his advantage. The crowd was clearly behind Styles as he recovered and asked the fans what kind of weapon they wanted him to use. The table seemed to win the vote, but The Miz stopped him from using it with a baseball slide dropkick.
When we returned from the break, Styles finally set up the table next to the ring. He used a kendo stick to inflict punishment for a couple of minutes before nailing The Miz with The Phenomenal Forearm. Ciampa came out of nowhere to pull the ref out of the ring, so Styles went after him and put him through the table he set up earlier.
The Miz threw a chair at Styles to block his signature forearm, but The Phenomenal One eventually hit The Styles Clash to get the win. This was a good match from two veteran performers. It wasn't the Match of the Night, but it was worthy of the main event spot.
Winner: AJ Styles
Grade: B+
