Jon Moxley sought revenge Wednesday night against The Firm's Lee Moriarty.

The road to Full Gear on Saturday, November 19 rolled through Baltimore Wednesday night with the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, headlined by the latest in-ring appearance from world champion Jon Moxley as he battled The Firm's Lee Moriarty.

That hard-hitting contest was joined by the latest attempt by Chris Jericho to diminish the legacy of Ring of Honor, a three-way battle for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship and a sitdown interview featuring Saraya and Dr. Britt Baker DMD.

Match Card

1 OF 8
    • AEW World Championship Eliminator Match: Jon Moxley vs. Lee Moriarty
    • ROH World Television Championship Match: Samoa Joe vs. Brian Cage
    • ROH World Championship Match: Chris Jericho vs. A Mystery Opponent
    • TBS Championship Match: Jade Cargill vs. Marina Shafir
    • Darby Allin vs. Jay Lethal
    • Triple Threat Match for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship: Orange Cassidy vs. Luchasaurus vs. Rey Fenix
    • Sit Down Interview with Renee Paquette: Saraya and Dr. Britt Baker DMD
    • Daddy Ass Birthday Bash

Darby Allin vs. Jay Lethal

2 OF 8

    Credit: All Elite Wrestling

Jay Lethal attacked Darby Allin a week ago, trapping him under a garage door and applying a Figure Four that injured the ribs of the former TNT champion. A vengeful Allin wasted little time taking the fight to Lethal early, brawling with him in the aisle.

An uber-athletic match saw Allin do what he typically does: fight back from underneath while showing considerable resiliency and guts along the way. Interference by a fake Sting allowed Lethal to deliver his Lethal Injection finisher and score the win.

Cue the revelation of the faker as Cole Karter of The Factory, the return of the real Sting, and the AEW debut of Jeff Jarrett, who cut a scathing promo on the company and took credit for it and its success on behalf of his family.

    This was...straight out of 2000 WCW/early TNA.

Fake Sting, illogical surprises for the sake of surprises, and Jeff Jarrett collecting a paycheck from another major promoter made this angle look more like something from the turn of the century than what you expect out of AEW.

With that said, Jarrett is great and can make just about anything work, as was the case here. He cut his promo with conviction and elevated the quality of this whole thing exponentially. A good match and an above-average promo helped but the booking, like much of AEW here in 2022, left much to be desired.

    Result

    Lethal pinned Allin

    Grade

    C+

    Top Moments

    • Allin countered the Lethal Injection into a sleeper.
    • Official Bryce Remsburg ejected Lethal and Satnam Singh from ringside, only for someone perceived to be Sting blasted Allin with a bat to the ribs, setting up the finish.
    • Cole Karter revealed himself to be under the Sting get-up, only for the real Sting to hit the ring and make the save.
    • Jeff Jarrett appeared and laid out Sting with a guitar shot, then cut a scathing promo in which he took credit on behalf of his family for all that AEW is and has become.

AEW World Championship Eliminator Match: Jon Moxley vs. Lee Moriarty

3 OF 8

    Credit: All Elite Wrestling

The Firm left AEW World champion Jon Moxley lying a week ago and Wednesday, Lee Moriarty had the chance to continue the faction's dominance of the top dog in a World Championship Elimination Match.

The talented young wrestler controlled the match throughout the break but the double-tough Moxley weathered the storm, overcame the impressive technical skill of his motivated opponent and tapped him out.

There was no time to celebrate, though, as Ethan Page attacked before standing tall alongside Moriarty and manager Stokely Hathaway to close out the segment.

The match was good but would have been even more enjoyable had Moriarty had anything remotely close to momentum on his side entering it. He had no chance in hell of winning and the fans knew it, hurting the heat, as proven by the mid-match distraction caused by the arrival of Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens taking the attention away from the combatants between the ropes.

It looks like Page is up next for Moxley as the television program with The Firm continues en route to a showdown with MJF at Full Gear. It should be a good match if nothing else.

    Result

    Moxley defeated Moriarty

    Grade

    B-

    Top Moments

    • Ethan Page joined the commentary team and reminded Excalibur and Co. that Moxley never beat him either, instead winning via referee stoppage, just like he did against Adam Page last week.
    • Renee Paquette sat down with Saraya, with the advertised Dr. Britt Baker DMD conspicuously absent. The second-generation star refused to answer if she was cleared to return, claiming there was one doctor she wanted to consult yet.

Daddy Ass Birthday Bash

4 OF 8

    Credit: All Elite Wrestling

The Acclaimed celebrated "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn's birthday in Baltimore with an in-ring segment that was amusing if nothing else but served as little more than an excuse to bring Anthony Bowens, Max Caster and FTR's Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler together for a championship match tease.

The Gunn Club got involved, FTR made the save and the staredown commenced.

There was not much to it but The Acclaimed is entertaining and charismatic and the crowd appeared to have fun with it, so there is that.

Absent without any explanation? Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee, the No. 1 contenders to the tag titles.

    Grade

    B

    Top Moments

    • The Acclaimed revealed new foam scissor fingers merch.
    • Anthony Bowens cracked a joke about his guests not making it to the show because "they were mad that (Gunn) didn't go to the reunion," a reference to the D-Generation C reunion that closed out Raw two weeks back.
    • FTR teased challenging The Acclaimed for the AEW Tag Team Championship.

ROH World Championship Match: Chris Jericho vs. Colt Cabana

5 OF 8

    Credit: All Elite Wrestling

Much was made about the former Ring of Honor champion who would step up to challenge Chris Jericho for the promotion's world title.

    That person? Colt Cabana.

The Ocho and his challenger had a perfectly acceptable wrestling match in which the outcome was never in dispute. Cabana was fine, Jericho delivered the Codebreaker and retained the title, and the crowd went...mild.

Things picked up moments later with the brawl between The Jericho Appreciation Society and The Blackpool Combat Club on the stage, but even that felt lackluster based on the fact that we have seen the two factions feud for over half a year at this point.

Why is every Jericho program in this company the longest ever, far outlasting its usefulness and limping to a conclusion rather than settling when it should have?

These two factions seemingly settled their differences in Blood and Guts and if that is not the case, why even book that match in the first place? This is what happens when there is no clear creative direction.

    Result

    Jericho retained over Cabana

    Grade

    C

    Top Moments

    • Jericho claimed he could kick Lamar Jackson's ass, drawing a loud reaction from the crowd and a classic camera shot of the former NFL MVP biting his nails. Totally coincidentally but a money shot.
    • Backstage, Pac attempted to convince Rey Fenix to use the timekeeper's hammer in his three-way match against Orange Cassidy and Luchasaurus for the All-Atlantic Championship, planting the seeds for continued dissension among the Death Triangle teammates.

AEW All-Atlantic Championship Match: Orange Cassidy vs. Luchasaurus vs. Rey Fenix

6 OF 8

    Credit: All Elite Wrestling

The totally unbothered AEW All-Atlantic champion Orange Cassidy defended his title against Rey Fenix and Luchasaurus in a much-needed match/segment that was not designed to take a shot at either WWE or CM Punk.

The dinosaur-masked big man dominated the action entering the break, bowling over his smaller opponents while Christian Cage watched on approvingly from the commentary position.

An appearance from Jack Perry led to the downfall of Luchasaurus and left Cassidy to battle Fenix, who he leveled with the Orange Punch for the pinfall victory. After the match, Pac attacked Freshly Squeezed, only for New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Shibata to make the save.

Accompanied by Rocky Romero and Best Friends, he made his way to the ring, pointed at Cassidy and signed the open contract for a title shot this Friday on Rampage.

There was way too much going on here and it badly distracted from the match and its quality.

Perry attacking Luchasaurus was great but there was no real interaction between Cassidy and Fenix, just a rush to the finish. The post-match stuff, with Shibata chasing off Pac, only to challenge the man he just saved for the All-Atlantic title, made little sense.

Too many moving parts, like most of this show, it was too overly complicated for its own good and the result was an underwhelming match featuring at least two guys who have been synonymous with strong ring work of late.

But hey, the Shibata deal probably made some of the NJPW fans happy so there's that, right?

    Result

Cassidy defeated Fenix and Luchasaurus to retain

    Grade

    C+

    Top Moments

    • Cassidy and Fenix mounted a comeback but Luchasaurus halted their momentum and chokeslammed the latter through the timekeeper's table.
    • On the apron, Luchasaurus attempted a chokeslam on the stage, only for Jungle Boy to attack with a steel chair. Cage attempted to cut him off, only to be chased out of the arena. The babyface delivered a crossbody to his former partner, through a table.
    • Backstage, Rick Ross promised to make Swerve Strickland the hottest recording artist in the world while Keith Lee appeared none too enthused by his partner's split focus.

TBS Championship Match: Jade Cargill vs. Marina Shafir

7 OF 8

    Credit: All Elite Wrestling

Despite not having possession of her TBS Championship, Jade Cargill still defended against Marina Shafir Wednesday night while Nyla Rose, playing dress up with said title, joined Vickie Guerrero on the stage for live commentary of the action.

The match was about as good as one expected, which is to say it was not.

Shafir may be trying hard but she is not ready to be in this position and AEW is doing her a great disservice every week by exposing her weaknesses like this.

Cargill won despite Rose's distraction, Kiera Hogan failed to snatch the title away from Rose and the segment ended not with a bang, but a whimper.

Like this entire show, there were a lot of bells and whistles here but nothing really happened. There was no escalation of the rivalry or any real development to speak of. It was a match featuring people in a feud, one person won and the thing ended abruptly.

    And...onto the next one.

    Result

    Cargill defeated Shafir

    Grade

    D

    Top Moments

    • Cargill's pump kick is still impressive if nothing else.

ROH Television Championship: Samoa Joe vs. Brian Cage

8 OF 8

    Credit: All Elite Wrestling

The battle between Samoa Joe and The Embassy continued in the night's main event as the ROH Television champion defended against "The Machine" Brian Cage.

A physical match, as expected, it saw Cage get some solid offense in before Joe caught him with the Coquina Clutch and scored the submission win.

After the match, The Gates of Agony attacked, drawing TNT champion Wardlow out for the save. Instead of the babyfaces standing tall, Powerhouse Hobbs returned and laid the War Dog out to close the show.

It made sense that Tony Khan actively attempted to highlight Ring of Honor in a city that had become synonymous with the brand before he bought it, but this was not exactly the most electric way to end the show.

Joe and Cage worked hard and delivered a quality heavyweight clash but everything after it only served to highlight issues with the current product.

The Embassy is a faction that has not been nearly defined enough for people to care, meaning Cage was not over enough as the heel challenger and The Gates of Agony continue to come across as just two guys doing generic heel stuff.

Hobbs popping back up as a potential challenger to Wardlow is a welcome creative decision but everything else about this felt flatter than one would expect from a show taking place in a historic wrestling city like Baltimore.

    Result

    Joe defeated Cage to retain

    Grade

    B-

    Top Moments

    • Hobbs' spinebuster to Warlow was an impressive spot and an emphatic announcement by Powerhouse that he is coming for the TNT Championship. That match should be, to quote ol' Jim Ross, a slobber knocker.

WWE NXT Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from November 1

Sana Ejaz Khan

Toxic Attraction remain the dominant faction in NXT, keeping Mandy Rose NXT women's champion for over a year.
    Credit: WWE.com

WWE NXT was still picking up the pieces following an exciting NXT Halloween Havoc in its November 1 show.

Mandy Rose and Toxic Attraction would celebrate the one-year anniversary of the NXT women's champion's title victory. Bron Breakker appeared for the first time since retaining his NXT Championship against Ilja Dragunov and JD McDonagh.

R-Truth would compete against the loudmouth Grayson Waller. Odyssey Jones would make his in-ring return after nearly 10 months on the shelf.

Joe Gacy's Schism agreed to a sit-down interview following the reveal of the latest member, Ava Raine. Thea Hail would look for revenge against Kiana James.

This show did not have much promised ahead of time, but with both major champions set to appear, there was certainly more to this show than immediately met the eye.

Pretty Deadly Interrupt Bron Breakker and Face a Challenge from Breakker and Wes Lee

1 OF 8

Pretty Deadly interrupted Bron Breakker right away followed quickly by Wes Lee. The NXT champion and North American champion challenged Elton Prince and Kit Wilson to put the NXT Tag Team Championships on the line.

The interactions here were fun, as Breakker continued to show he can be an entertainer and Lee continued to challenge himself on the mic. Pretty Deadly held it down and remain the best part of the NXT tag team division.

The show needed a hook with a card that lacked hype, and luckily, NXT had a plan. Breakker and Lee as a tag team does not make a ton of sense beyond the two both being face champions, but it should make for an engaging match.

The hope was that challengers would emerge throughout the night to create new stories in NXT while fans get a fun one-off encounter.

    Grade

    B

    Notable Moments

    • Breakker agreed that Prince and Wilson had great hair then gave them a polite introduction, only to turn the moment into a championship challenge.
    • Pretty Deadly wanted no more interruptions, but instead, R-Truth arrived to party with the face champions ahead of his match with Grayson Waller.

R-Truth vs. Grayson Waller

2 OF 8

R-Truth dominated Grayson Waller early. However, after Waller headed outside, Truth went for a somersault but got his foot caught on the top rope. His landing was bad, so the referee called off the match.

Sometimes, injuries happen no matter who is involved. Truth is one of the safer performers in WWE and has stayed healthy much of his career. Unfortunately, he got caught in the ropes and may have injured his knee.

Hopefully, he will be better than the fall looked. Truth had recently been gaining back a spotlight, and he will be missed if he has to step away for a while.

    Result

Waller def. Truth due to referee stoppage.

    Grade

I will not be giving a grade given the unfortunate circumstance.

    Notable Moments

    • After his dubious win, Waller bragged about being the best no matter who he fought from NXT, Raw or SmackDown. This was good improv from Waller.
    • Vic Joseph sat down with Schism. Ava Raine explained how Joe Gacy helped her through tough times. She was also insulted by Cameron Grimes insinuating she had been brainwashed. It was announced Gacy would face Grimes next week. This was very good, especially Raine's promo work.

Kiana James vs. Thea Hail

3 OF 8

Thea Hail looked motivated in this rematch, but she was still no match for Kiana James, who put her away with a pair of 401Ks. Charlie Dempsey attacked Andre Chase after the bell, and Duke Hudson made the save while making eyes at Hail.

There was not much of a match here, but the story was interesting. With Bodhi Hayward sadly released today, Chase U is moving forward with Hudson as the unlikely new addition to the stable. He is still a heel and adds an interesting layer to Chase U.

Dempsey is also back in action. Hopefully, both Hudson and Dempsey can use this new spotlight afforded to them by associating with the entertaining Chase U to prove their own worth to NXT.

    Result

    James def. Hail by pinfall.

    Grade

C (mostly for the story surrounding the match)

    Notable Moments

    • Before the match, Hail was nervous, missing the flag-bearer of Chase U. Hudson appeared and grabbed the flag, excited to rep the university.
    • Hudson saved Hail by putting her foot on the rope, but Chase sent him to the back for cheating.
    • James' assistant handed an envelope to Fallon Henley during an interview where Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen were trying to focus on dethroning Pretty Deadly.

Odyssey Jones vs. Javier Bernal

4 OF 8

Javier Bernal went after the surgically repaired patellar tendon of Odyssey Jones, but the big man was completely healthy. He got back to his feet and slammed Big Body Javy to the mat for the win.

This was a squash match as expected, and the only offense Bernal got in was to show that Jones was completely healthy again. It was what it needed to be.

It is nice to see the big man back in action. He has a high ceiling as a performer thanks to his charisma and speed for his size. NXT could use another midcard face like Jones to keep things fresh.

    Result

    Jones def. Bernal by pinfall.

    Grade

    C

    Notable Moments

    • Big Body Javy taunted Edris Enofé and Malik Blade for losing last week, only to find out to his surprise that he was fighting Jones tonight.

Alba Fyre Ruins Mandy Rose's Championship Celebration

5 OF 8

Mandy Rose put herself over during her NXT Women's Championship celebration alongside Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. Smoke suddenly erupted, and Alba Fyre attacked Toxic Attraction. She sent Dolin through a table, then she promised to win the title in two weeks.

This was one of the best promos Rose has cut in the past year. It was angry and heartfelt, selling how much this reign has meant to her without ever losing the heel sneer.

It seems that before Rose can look forward, she will have to defeat Fyre one more time. If Dolin and Jayne can be taken out ahead of time, Rose and Fyre can put on an engaging final match in their rivalry.

    Grade

    B

    Notable Moments

    • Dolin and Jayne showed a video package, highlighting Mandy Rose's 371-day-and-climbing NXT Women's Championship reign.
    • Rose talked about what it meant to her to prove herself among the best women in NXT over the past year.
    • SCRYPTS left another foreboding message for the WWE Performance Center.

Zoey Stark (w/ Nikkita Lyons) vs. Indi Hartwell

6 OF 8

Zoey Stark was controlled by her frustration, not looking like a veteran for Nikkita Lyons to look up to. She nearly powerbombed Indi Wrestling through the announce table, but Lyons calmed her down. Hartwell hit a big boot and running clothesline to the back to win.

This was one of the best matches Hartwell has had in a long time. She looked like a veteran playing off Stark, who remains a constant pro. It was a surprising victory that could be helping to right Indi Wrestling's direction in NXT.

Meanwhile, it looks like Stark is heading a dark path that could lead to her breaking up with Lyons. It is a shame that the rare women's tag team NXT has built up is already falling apart.

    Result

    Hartwell def. Stark by pinfall.

    Grade

    B

    Notable Moments

    • Stark was still moping this week backstage, which got on the nerves of Hartwell. The two argued in the locker room to set up a match.
    • Stark's anger almost got the best of her in this match, nearly getting disqualified for stomping on Hartwell in the corner. Lyons had to calm her down.
    • Stark promised that she would get back in her bag for next week. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter mocked her, which almost set her off again.

Cora Jade vs. Valentina Feroz

7 OF 8

Cora Jade made fun of Valentina Feroz, who answered back with fast-moving offense. However, Feroz took one too many risks and landed on her face. Jade planted her with a DDT to win.

There was not much here, but Feroz continues to look solid in short bursts against serious competition. She challenged Jade more than one would have expected, which is a sign NXT is starting to trust her.

Jade is the featured star in this moment, and it looks like she will be moving on to a feud with Wendy Choo. Both women have the talent to surprise fans while continuing to prove themselves worthy of a main event spot.

    Result

    Jade def. Feroz by pinfall.

    Grade

    C-

    Notable Moments

    • Feroz asked Sanga to be in her corner, but Veer Mahaan told him to stay in the back. Choo was seen watching this from behind a couch where she was sleeping.
    • Jade punished Feroz with a running back elbow into the ropes then choked her out on the second rope.
    • Jade tried to do more damage to Feroz, but Choo made the save.
    • Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo talked about business until Elektra Lopez arrived, who made clear she was ready to be dangerous on her own.

NXT Tag Championships: Pretty Deadly (c) vs. Bron Breakker and Wes Lee

8 OF 8

As Bron Breakker was brawling with Elton Prince outside, Carmelo Hayes dumped Wes Lee to the floor, allowing Kit Wilson to steal the pinfall. After the surprise finish, Von Wagner caught Breakker with a big boot.

Pretty Deadly continues to dominate against capable competition. Wilson and Prince may come off as ridiculous heels, but this team has consistently lived up to the legacy of the NXT Tag Team Championships—more than anyone else in the past year.

This match was less than it could have been. It felt like it could have gone at least another five minutes, but it was still a fun main event. What mattered more was how many new threats were set up for Breakker as the title picture continues to evolve.

Breakker vs. Wagner is not the most exciting matchup, but NXT is at least not resting and waiting for NXT Deadline to get main event stories moving.

    Result

Pretty Deadly def. Breakker and Lee by pinfall to retain the NXT Tag Team Championships.

    Grade

    B

    Notable Moments

    • Mr. Stone interrupted Breakker and Lee backstage, warning Breakker that Wagner was coming for his title. Later in the night, Apollo Crews made his claim to an NXT Championship match clear, only to be interrupted by Wagner.
    • Lee got isolated in this match for a while, but he managed to send both heels to the outside then make a mad dash for the hot tag to Breakker, who hit an impressive double suplex on Pretty Deadly before throwing Lee on to both.
    • After Lee lost, he did not hesitate to dive right on to Melo, and the two brawled all the way to the back.
    • Crews was shown watching the ending of the show closely, but JD McDonagh arrived to warn him that The Necessary Evil was also still interested in gold.
